It's my birthday too! All the best people I say..........Grin

TorchlightMcKenzie · 09/08/2012 13:50

And brilliant news about the imitation Dev.

I did look at your reinforcer thread, but was slightly Hmm about it. Not because there was anything wrong with what you were asking but because we were once in EXACTLY the same position as you, with the same problems, but it feels like a lifetime ago now and I hadn't even realised how much we and ds had progressed until I read your thread.

DS finds so much in the world interesting and worthy of attention that it really isn't hard to motivate him (well, his school sometimes struggle, but that is more to do with their own limitations as to what they can provide). Once, he found nothing interesting except his own flapping and lining up.

auntevil · 09/08/2012 17:36

Happy birthday Star too. I kind of like 'whatever day'. When you get to a certain age it seems more fitting. It also means you could probably celebrate it on whatever day you want! Grin

Hope u guys have had a fab day! X

dev9aug · 09/08/2012 19:41

Thanks again everyone and Happy Birth day Torchlight as well.

I will whisper it here, but our non verbal DS when I started posting has started saying some words as well. OK they are not functional, its echolalia, just repeating stuff on the videos, but we will grab it with both hands thank you very much. so it has definitely been a very good day so far and it has been a few good few weeks and I am looking forward to the future. Onwards and upwards... Cheers everybody. enjoy the wine..WineWine

coff33pot · 09/08/2012 19:56

Thats great news Dev well done little DS on the days achievments :)

Happy Birthday too Torchlight! Grin Flowers

TorchlightMcKenzie · 09/08/2012 20:03

Dev, that is fantastic news. It doesn't matter how the behaviour occurs at this stage. The fact it is at all means you can encourage and shape it. I find it hard to believe my non-stop talking about annoying things ds was ever non-verbal with a prognosis from some of remaining so. I'm really REALLY pleased for you and so excited at what it means.

I will be extra careful today and the rest of the holiday to try and enjoy ds' monologues about prime numbers.

Actually, a little miracle for us too. DS decided that because it was my birthday we should play pass the parcel. Having no parcel, he produced russian dolls and insisted we pass them and take one off when he stopped banging the keyboard Grin. His explanation of the game took some work to understand but he was the happiest boy in town once we'd understood and played it.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 09/08/2012 23:09

Rather belated happy birthday to Dev and Star. Sounds like both DSs came up trumps.
