hi there , my son is 8 and has attended weekly ot for the past 3 years
he has made huge improvement in all areas but we are struggling with trousers
I know its a small thing in the grand scale of things but would really appreciate any suggestions.
He can only wear canterbury tracksuits . He really struggles with keeping them up.

Has anyone had any success with a particular type of jeans , trousers or easy to use belts ?

many thanks

my ds really likes the pull up trousers from boden here
they are on the large side though

LadySybildeChocolate · 07/08/2012 23:43

Ds wears the Boden ones as well. Mountain warehouse also sell trousers which have poppers, not buttons. Next used to sell pull on trousers, I've not been in for a while though so I'm not sure if they still do.

Another vote for Boden trousers. DS can only do up slide hooks (not sure of the technical term).

Depends on their figure. DS1 (9) is straight up and down and slim. We often find that pull on waists are too baggy. DS wears adjustable trousers, as they seem to fall down less. We just make sure that there is enough excess to be able to pull them up and down without undoing. That way he can wear jeans/trousers etc.
You can of course velcro where zips should be and leave the trouser clip in place as your DS can do it.

Sewing machine + velcro here as I only have an Asda/primark budget. School uniform trousers are the worst Sad.

Ds used to have to use these belts when he was a skinny minny, (with an "apple bitten" bum school trousers refused to stay up without them, no matter how many inches I took them in). I'm so glad he's finally filled out a bit. www.amazon.co.uk/Pack-Snake-Belts-2-10yrs-Black/dp/B001E7SZWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344421561&sr=8-1

On a more positive note I got DS a clicloc watch as part of his 8th birthday pressie last month and it's blooming great! www.amazon.co.uk/s?ie=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=watches&field-keywords=CLICLOC My elderly arthritic Mum now wants one too Wink

Thank you all so much for the replies. I really really appreciate it -

Going to order some Boden, and the belts .

I would never have thought of velcro ! I have a very handy mum so going to try that too as he hates zips.

We had tried pull on before, but he was so thin they would fall down.

That was nearly two years ago, so now he has filled out a bit hopefully will find something. Its my summer project.

The clicloc watch is fab btw, I know that feeling, when you get something that works !

thank you everyone again
