Hi everyone! It is friday again isn't it? I can't believe how fast the week has gone. ds has been to ASD group and we went to the disabled children's swim, he was also had a friend from school round to play today, (which went fabbily) he mananged to stay off the computer and actually interact with her, (and she is a little sweetie, v kind to him). I am going to file this week in my 'nice memories' bit of brain, to remember when things get 'pear shaped'. Grin

How has everyone else been?

Are you sure its Friday already? I'm still on Tuesday's workload! Grin
mini sign's playdate sounds like it went brilliantly.
Kids been fine this week, Drs have been complete ahs. C'est la vie

This week has flown by!! Sounds like you had a lovely week. My daughter also had a friend up this week...first time!!! I was a bit worried/anxious how it would all go but it went fab!! Woohoo. Otherwise ive been resting, recently out of hospital with quinsy and glandular fever!!

moosemama · 03/08/2012 17:53

Hi sign, sounds like you have had a really good week, definitely one to file away under happy memories. Smile

First full week of the school holidays for us here and it's been hectic. Lots of hospital appointments for the boys at the beginning of the week, followed by trying to get organised for our holiday, whilst attempting to stop world war three breaking out among the dcs.

Just this second had a text from dh to say the veedub has passed it's mot, so that helps, as we can just sling everything in, rather than having to try and pack as compactly as possible. Having two big dogs means no boot space at all in the car, so packing for a family of 5 plus two dogs in a roof box (which we would have had to buy) would have been tight. Roof boxes are a horrendous price aren't they! Shock Doesn't help that our car has a panoramic glass roof, so we can only get two brands and wouldn'tchaknowit they are the most expensive ones. Hmm

Been ironing and packing clothes all day today, trying to pace myself and get it done a bit a day rather than a last minute mad dash. Unfortunately even the clothes packing has knocked me for six and I'm now curled up on the sofa allowing the dcs to have a cartoonathon on the tv.

Ds1 has absolutely astounded me with his typing skills progress. Just one week and he is already using all the right fingers and increasing his speed. He's up to 25 words a minute now with 99% accuracy! Shock If anyone is interested, he is using the Typing Instructor Platinum app and enjoys it so much he is incessantly nagging asking to go on it.

Ds2 is rather less keen to do his holiday work and I have let him off a little, because we've started his physio and he's exhausted when he's done that.

moosemama · 03/08/2012 17:56

Oh Ilovecake, quinsy is really horrible, but then glandular fever on top! You poor thing. Hope you're being properly looked after and waited on hand and foot.

signandsmile · 03/08/2012 18:41

hi moose, ds has been doing a 'project' on space, i thought it would interest him, and he has done really well, done some reading, some 'space maths' (found some fab space printables online) and has managed to do some sticking (hurrah) without huge trauma about sticky fingers, (we are making the solar system Shock Grin)

by the way I read your post as putting the two dogs in the roof box Grin Grin... hope you have a great time!

This week has been odd. The girls have both kicked off on a number of times which doesn't often happen during holidays are we are lead by them, but sadly dd2 isn't handling anything well and dd1 is stressed and physically pulling out her hair.
We had a nice day at my sisters where I didn't see the girls at all and now dh has taken them to local SN soft play evening.
We managed to get all uniform sorted Smile

Me and dh have an overnight break on Friday at local hotel for our anniversary and hoping we can relax for a bit.
I'm learning this year we need more down time Sad

lisa sorry to hear week has been challenging, really hope break next week is good,

Glad your dc's playdates went well Sign and Ilove :)

Sounds like you've both had hectic weeks Moose and Lisa, but good news on the car Moose and enjoy your anniversary break Lisa Grin

Not such a good week here, ds had a sickness bug at the beggining of the week, quite a strange experience as there wasn't any moping or quite time, he was just literally stopping when he needed to be sick then carrying on as if nothing was the matter despite a temp Confused now I've come down with some kind of bug so we've been cooped up indoors all week, teeeeny bit stressful lol, especially seeing as ds seems oblivious to the fact that I would like a bit of a rest bless him.

Here's to a better time of it next week Wine

lisad123 · 03/08/2012 19:05

Hope you both are better soon angel

bochead · 03/08/2012 21:00

We've had a great week.

Discovered that I can take DS swimming in the mornings for the bargainacious price of a quid for the pair of us - well we had to go 3 times at that price didn't we ; ) (I wasn't too happy with his lack of progress or the 'tude of the instructor in the expensive swimming lessons I paid for at another pool earlier this year, so at least this way he gets a bit of practice without my feeling resentful at the dent in my wallet for no tangible gain iykwim.)

He's doing great at the OT exercises set for the summer (eg he's stopped crying everytime he has to walk a figure of 8 at last bless).

Done NO school related work at all - will go back to it next week, but the poor mite tried SO hard this year at school I really did feel he'd do better for a week's rest iykwim.

Went to a mainstream den building session at the environmental centre which he really enjoyed but was very expensive so we'll try the free session run by the city farm next week instead. He also had a playdate that went OK.

Hospital check up after the op he had at the end of June went well too as he didn't demolish the equipment this time.

Only fly in my ointment is self inflicted. I decided to clear out his room to redcorate. I'm sure you can all work out what came next ..........................the bed wetting has restarted ..........................

Sorry some of you are feeling under the weather right now.

signandsmile · 03/08/2012 21:10

angel, hope you are all feeling better soon, and boch £1 a swim, i'm Envy, Grin good for you!

Hi everyone :)

I'm still looking for a job, but hopefully starting my access course in accounting soon :)

Saw my friend and her DS again today - last week I was chasing him round her living room as he kept crawling where he shouldn't, this week I was trying to stop him rolling/crawling away during a nappy change, all fun!

But, to be fair, my friend has said how nice it is when she sees me, because I will help out with him, and it gives her a break. I sense she'll have me doing full nappy changes soon... Hmm

Still going to the gym - have now given up fizzy drinks. Want to shift this weight (well, some of it) before holiday. Can't find anything on Jet2's website that says they need to know about my eyesight, might ask the travel agent if they can tell them, don't want to find out we should've and they, for some reason, refuse to let us on the plane...

StarlightWithAsteroid · 03/08/2012 21:45

At campsite close enough to hear young teenagers on the playground interact (or not) with DS. Calling him a weirdo, asking him what he is saying, laughing at him. The more attention he got the more excited he got and the more nonsense he spoke. We pulled him away into the tent but he escaped and went back to them.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 03/08/2012 21:48

Anyway, hi all Grin.

As you can see we are away. I'd love to drown in a bottle of red but am worried I might then lose the baby in my sleeping bag.......

StarlightWithAsteroid · 03/08/2012 21:51

Oooh, busy weeks for you all. Hope the bedwetting stops soon Boch and you find a great job Lol.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 03/08/2012 22:34

Hi to all. Commiserations to those who have been ill and well done to successful play dates swimming etc.
Ds has spent masses of time on the computer but he is playing a fairly creative game with a friend from school and as they skype each other some social interaction is going on too. I am quite pleased about this as it is the first time he has had any contact with school friends outside school hours since he started.
DD is always complaining that her room is too small so I suggested that if she tidied up and got rid of stuff she has grown out of it would seem much bigger. She has made a start but is reluctant to get rid of anything much.

Wishing those on holiday going on holiday good weather and better neighbours than Star's. Are you going to be stuck with them for long, Star?

bialystockandbloom · 03/08/2012 22:37

Is this thread still active? First time on a Friday night thread for me (usually too knackered and tipsy to join in).

star that is sickening Sad. The little bastards - sound like they're old enough to know what they're doing too. How did you restrain yourself from ripping them apart??

Disclaimer: I have a very short fuse atm after two weeks of having ds and dd (coming up to 3yo and verrrrry trying) at home. Not sure how we're all still alive tbh Grin

StarlightWithAsteroid · 03/08/2012 23:45

Hi Bialy,

To be honest, the effect on DS was overshadowed by the effect on dd (almost 4). She caught DH sneaking up on the group to listen/monitor and burst into tears saying that she didn't want Dh to hear and see it as he might get upset and that he must go away as she woukd look after DS.

Great news at the interaction NoHa!

ouryve · 04/08/2012 00:05

2 weeks down for us. I've been even meltier than the kids, today.

Had to hide DS2's innocent magnets because we had to wait for him to do what he was doing with all 100 of them before we could do anything. He spent the morning alternating between slapping me and mooching on the sofa. They made a quiet re-appearance before lunch!
