I am about to send my DSs DLA renewal off.

Wish me luck.

You go girl!!!!

EveryPicture · 30/07/2012 14:22

Thank you. It's exhausting, depressing, but necessary. He is on HRC and HRM at the moment. I'll let you know the outcome.

Good luck with it!

EveryPicture · 30/07/2012 16:25

Thanks EllenJane. It was quite weighty. Grin. House is in total uproar but it's done and gone.

Good luck!

I have just posted my first DLA application today. Its only taken me a year to complete Smile

EveryPicture · 30/07/2012 22:31

coff33pot It's an awful daunting form isn't it? I have spent complete days digging out reports. Filling in the thing and amending, cross-referencing attachments, etc. Makes me glad I was once a secretary. Grin

Fingers crossed for us both eh?

OP posts:
c4rnsi1lk · 30/07/2012 22:33

took me 3 weeks....nightmare process. now waiting to hear

coff33pot · 30/07/2012 22:50

Yes it is awfully daunting! I saved it online and filled it in bit by bit. In the end I got so confused about which report to send I just sent the clinical one, the medical one with dxs on and his statement showing full 25 hours and hoping for the best!

I put in writing that I have a suitcase full of reports all saying the same thing but if they want them they are welcome.

They cant phone school as I pulled him out so thats not good so I am hoping his Maudsley report is sufficient enough.

I am hoping it goes through as I really want to buy him a laptop as his next school have invited me to train with them on clicker and I want to have it at home to help his reading and writing in a homework way if he has a stressed day and does nothing at school. Heres hoping :)

EveryPicture · 30/07/2012 23:08

What got me was the conflicting reports. Or the over-enthusiastic reports that made me look like I was fibbing. "X will use a knife". Not at home he won't! "He enjoys making things" ...I've never seen a creative bone in his body despite coaxing him.

No doubt they will think I am a complete hysteric. Well, at least we can laugh. We must all post our updates. c4 good luck chuck. And again to coff33pot

coff33pot · 30/07/2012 23:52

Oh yes I have a few conficting ones lol

Even on the final report it has "no sleep issues reported" BUT that was them asking DS in his mental wellbeing assessment which was on his own and it also states "DS is not at all aware of the fact he has difficulties" so of course he is going to say he has no sleep issues as it is normal to him to sleepwalk! and take hours to settle as he actually doesnt see or notice that it is a problem DOH!

Yes we must post updates :) good luck to all that painsakingly completed this whatsit of a form! x

starfish71 · 31/07/2012 09:14

Oh can I join in? Am working on DS1's DLA form today, it's horrible!

Good luck to you all too, it is a horrible job. :(

EveryPicture · 31/07/2012 09:50

Of course you can starfish71. Smile

I am already worrying I have forgotten something. I send it recorded delivery. I hope that is the right thing to do? And I was awake last night thinking, 'oh, I should have put THAT in. I should have copied another report'.

Fret, worry. No wonder I'm so thin. lol.

I hope you get on ok with the form. It is depressing. But you have to do what you have to do. x

c4rnsi1lk · 31/07/2012 12:33

You can send stuff in once you've sent the form off. I keep meaning to send in a report but need to find it first!
I struggled to remember what I'd put on the first form 2 years ago. Hope they don't strike us off 'cos last time i said that some things were different or something daft.

coff33pot · 31/07/2012 12:47

Good luck with the filling in starfish keep plenty of chocolate to keep you going :)

Thats what I am doing now going through other reports to see if I should send them on or not.

EveryPicture · 01/08/2012 19:21

Right. Mine has been received and signed for today

I have decided to leave it be for now. If they want anything extra, they can ask for it.

OP posts:
coff33pot · 01/08/2012 19:39

Glad yours turned up :) I sent mine special delivery and its not there yet! I may have missed the del slot though as it was late in the day

slacklucy · 01/08/2012 19:53

i included all reports but i always highlight the bits i want them to read. Hopefully they'll ignore any conflicting crap.

EveryPicture · 01/08/2012 19:58

It has got to get there coff33pot (she says, hopefully). I was stalking the Post Office website for the past 36 hours. Then it crashed. Aaaargh!

I probably made it crash by typing my reference in again and again and again. Grin

OP posts:
starfish71 · 01/08/2012 21:40

Glad your forms got there safe Every. Sure yours will get there coff33pot.

I have done bit more today but have called it a night as my brain has gone numb! Only got few days left before it has to be posted so tomorrow after DS1's S & L appt I will have to crack on. Be so glad once it's gone in the post.

coff33pot · 01/08/2012 23:41

Well I have just checked tuesdays Euromillions and I WON! £6.10 pence LOL the exact amount it cost to send it special delivery on the same day!

So that is either a good sign or the fact that its lost and I got my money back Grin

I am going for the good sign.

I do sympathise starfish with the filling in. Like I said it took me 12 months and I never want to do one again! It is mind numbing you are right. Hope you have had a well earned Wine for your achievments before bed :)

EveryPicture · 02/08/2012 05:29

coff33pot It's a sign! A good one...I just know it Grin

slacklucy I went through each report and hand wrote comments like "I don't agree with this" or "this is incorrect". Bet they think I'm a right stroppy mare.

starfish it is a nice feeling when you finally get it posted. It's in their hands then.

Have a good day all.

starfish71 · 04/08/2012 08:48

Well it's gone! Posted yesterday lunch time. Such a relief but of course now I am wondering if I have put enough detail!

Sent DS's proposed statement, copies of advices from stat assessment and when I saw CAMHS dr last week she said she would strongly support application when they contact her so will just have to wait and see.Confused

But I did enjoy a lvely glass or two of wine last night as a reward for finishing it! :)

EveryPicture · 04/08/2012 09:07

Well done starfish. I agree, it's a relief just to get it off your hands.

I sent the Statement in too - which was done years ago, but I have received a letter every year saying it is still appropriate so I copied that as well.

It will be interesting to see how long it is before each of us on this thread gets a decision.

OP posts:
starfish71 · 04/08/2012 09:18

Thanks Every, when I did DS 2's form (nearly two years ago - due for renewal dec :( ) had the decision letter in 2 weeks! Couldn't believe it, don't think I will be as lucky this time!

EveryPicture · 04/08/2012 09:36

You just reminded me that I have 16 months to go on my other sons renewal. So this time next year, I'll be doing it all again!

Never mind. Needs must and all that. Smile
