Hi everyone

My dd2 has been in a private nursery for a year. I put her in there as she was two and I wanted to send her to the same nursery as dd1.

Dd1 is now going to school and I want to move dd2 to a school nursery.

Dd2 has just been diagnosed with ASD and I am working with SENCO to apply for a statement after she has been seen by a educ psych.

She had three IDP'S in the private nursery setting which SENCO tell me she needs to apply for a statement.

My question is if i move dd to the new nursery school, I won't need to wait for 3 IDP'S to be done in the new setting will I before I can apply for a statement.?

My dd2 is starting school in August 2013 and I want to make sure she has a statement by the time she starts.

Thanks

She doesn't actually need the 3 IDPs to apply for statutory assessment. It's probably the preferred route in the LA but if her needs are pretty clear you can bypass their bureaucratic route. The new nursery should have her file passed on to it in any case. It's actually better if you request statutory assessment yourself, preferably with the nursery's backing, as you are then in control of the process and you have more rights of appeal than the nursery or school. Have a look at the SEN COP for the legal explanation of the process and IPSEA website has standard letters to send off applying for SA. I'm on my phone and don't have the links but someone will or I'll come back later. Smile

Are you in Scotland? Rules are different there. Just the staring in August 2013 thing. You may need more specific advice in that case.
