Hi,

My name is Allison, and I am mom to 2 kids who are pretty darn unique. DS is a couple of days from his 14th birthday and DD is 6. DS has some milder medical issues, fine/gross motor impairment and mild autistic traits, DD is the one who keeps me on my toes. She is very medically complex, with a laundry list of diagnoses but still technically "undiagnosed" because the docs believe her issues are all related but have no idea how. At this point, we have stopped looking for "the" answer and concentrate more on getting from one day to the next. In all likelihood, even if the docs can name her condition, it'll be rare enough that there isn't a treatment or prognosis, so we are just chasing our tails anyhow.

We live in Canada (I hope this is OK with the group - I find that European families can relate FAR more to the health realities in Canada than American ones can - and the majority of message boards on these topics seem to be primarily US).

I look forward to getting to know you all, and maybe sharing a bit of what we have learned on our journey through the years.

Sorry Moose - wasn't that far out as you both start with an 'M' Grin

Whya rea you calling yourself after large Canadain mammal when you're not a Canadian?

moosemama · 20/07/2012 22:16

Moose was the nickname of my ridiculously big dog in days gorn by. Ended up being nicknamed Moosemama as a result of him thinking he was a giant baby rather than a dog! Grin

Madwoman and I hang out together over on the diet threads quite a bit, so maybe that's why you made the association between us?

WetAugust · 21/07/2012 02:31

Interesting way to acquire your MN name Grin
Yes, that's probably what caused me to think you were her IYSWIM.
