Applying for statement?

Hello!

I have asked DS2's 1:1 lady to send me the link for applying for a statement online since apparently you can't do it any other way now!

She has sent me the links twice and for some reason it just won't open for me - I can't find the bloody thing myself for love nor money, does anyone else know how to get it?

I'm in herts if that makes any difference : )

Thanks!

Hi,

Not Herts myself, but a quick google came up with this page, which gives you a telephone number to call to be put in touch with your local SEN team and/or for a SEN officer to meet with you and talk you through the process.

Hope that helps. Smile

Are Herts making it even more difficult than it already is?. Are you sure you have been given the correct information from DS2's one to one lady?.

You can use IPSEA's website model letters on there www.ipsea.org.uk. You will need to write to the Chief Education Officer at your LEA and give them six weeks to reply.

Herts are truly awful when it comes to the whole SEN provision and statementing issues so it may be that you have a fight on your hands.

That link was very helpful Attila, thank you :)

I have heard that herts are not brilliant for sn provision and although they have been ok so far I've heard it all goes downhill once they start school.
Unfortunately from what I've experienced so far it's true, they seem extremely reluctant to provide anything over what your average nt student requires, so much so that when we applied for 6 hours of 1:1 funding for pre school we were turned down - he was only awarded 4.

They have every kind of information page possible on the herts direct website about statements but the actual link to apply for one is completely absent, it makes me wonder if they are trying to tell me something....

What? Numbskulls!!!!!

I wouldn't talk through anything with anyone from Herts tbh. Just get on with it the direct and efficient route and follow Attilla's advice. Also stay close to MN and clarify things at each stage. Herts can be very dishonest.

Herts are very good at giving the illusion of provision and produce reams of documents to keep the illusion alive, not to mention employ armies of staff to produce said documents and keep the illusion alive. Try actually getting someone to make a tagiable difference to your kid and it is a whole different story.

You can apply for a Statement using any media you wish as the request is a legal document.

I wish I hasd written our request on the back of a sow so the LA would have been forced to feed and house the animal forever - with apologies to the Negotiable Cow.
