DD age 4 was born at 25 weeks and has been diagnosed with developmental delay and specific language impairment. She has 2 Paeds (1 medical and 1 developmental) and also sees SALT, OT and Ed Psych. She has been awarded a statement for when she starts school in September.
I am at the end of my tether with her to be honest and am questioning whether she has ADHD or something else. She doesn't sleep at night and keeps getting up it takes hours literally from 8pm to midnight to get her to sleep for her then to be up a couple of hours later demanding attention. During the day she struggles to concentrate on anything eg she will not sit still for a story and flits between activities. Even simple things like eating her dinner she won't sit still for despite numerous requests to do so. She doesn't really play with toys and just spends her time flitting between things and never really concentrating on anything. She needs your full attention 100% of the time. It's like she is hyperactive, at nursery she is starting to get into trouble as she keeps pushing the other kids when they don't give her their attention.
I am convinced she needs some kind of medication and I don't think I can go on with not getting any sleep and working full time.
Does this sound like ADHD to you or something else?
Any tips on getting your child to sleep and staying asleep? Are there any vitamins/herbal remedies that may help?
Thanks for any advice
Michelle
