So this came in the post. It recommends communication disorder clinic, referral to OT for gross motor skill issues, and has sent a Strengths and Difficulties questionnaire which seems to have some markings made on it, plus a social communication problem questionnaire for school to fill in. I am unsure why this has come to me since they have copied the school on the covering letter.
I know that the paed has spoken to my dd's class teacher (she told me) but this feedback is not included. So in a sense what they have sent is incomplete and out of date since the paed has written that her plan depends on this feedback.
My dd has been assessed for problems of attention. Mine and the teacher's Connors rating scales both score highly for inattention and hyperactivity but the TA's does not.
Now the paed appears to be going off track recommending Ed Psych review (I think her cognitive profile is actually fine apart from her ability to engage fully in tasks that don't interest her) and autism assessment, but I think her social communication issues are part and parcel of her ADHD profile which includes a certain amount of immaturity. She has had intensive SLT in the past which have also noted attention difficulties and worked on these a lot.
It is all a bit frustrating! I think the paed is missing the point and making the whole process more protracted.
Any advice on what to do next??????!
