Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Think this EP assessment went well.

Ds 15 had an assessment for specific learning difficulties with EP yesterday. It is pretty obvious that he has lots of problems with writing stuff down, handwriting and spelling and his current school has taken a pragmatic approach and dealt with his needs as they arise. However as he has to move to a different setting for A levels, he needs a formal assessment to make sure he gets the right setting and the right support. He already has a statement for other issues.
EP yesterday said it was obvious that he was bright but had considerable difficulties of a dyslexic type with written work and a spelling age of 8. She said she would write a report to that effect and suggested avenues to explore for support. I am pleased we have got this but also feel angry that since we as parents have been raising these issues since he was in reception it has had to wait until he is 7 years behind to be formally recognised!

Really enjoyed this bit though. Ds told the EP that his primary HT (who excluded him basically because due to OCD he couldn't use the toilet independently) was "the personification of evil"!

I'm glad your assessment went well. :) It's a shame you weren't listened to earlier.
