Ds and I have had such a lovely day together instead of sports day hell

We went to a big park, he rode his bike, stopped at all 3 playgrounds and we had lunch together. A lovely calm day and he hasn't stopped humming happy tunes all day ( no sign of the persistent throat clearing either). Infinitely better than spending the day sobbing and trying to escape which is what happened at last year's sports day. :)

We will be doing this next year, theres no way i'm putting dd2 through what we did this week Sad, its not worth getting them upset when you can just take them out and have a fun day instead. Glad you had a great day xxxx

We did the exact same, missed sports day and went to soft play and out for lunch. Lovely calm day here too, just slightly ruined by a friends helpful comments about how he is missing out, and would have enjoyed it if only I gave him these experiences. sigh

My dd had a fab sports day at her new school. Was set out like the Olympics kids from all over the school were out in different countries and the countries tried out a range of activities in 15 min slots including martial arts, scooters, tennis, table tennis, athletics, etc etc. Teacher leading the activity gives out marks for how well the country has performed at each activity. Scores collated at end to see which country wins. But additional points are awarded for encouraging and helping your team showing friendship, good sportsmanship, being kind etc etc. Was veryyyy good and was lovely to see kids of all abilities taking part

How nice chundle. At ds' school it was only races - sprint, relay, egg and spoon and a beanbag race - really frustrating for kids who are crap at running. Ds would have coped much better if there were throwing or jumping activities and team events. Everyone staring at you while you come in last is not fun. No point suggesting change to the school though as they think I'm just a pita. Very glad he leaves there for good in a week.
