i really hope no-one minds me starting this and so early but i can't shout this out where i am...

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!

That useless article of a SENCO is far far behind us as DD left her primary school today, never to return.

Wine in the fridge, DH on his way home and i'm a very relieved parent

anyone else about for a virtual party with me?

Unchartered - congrats!! Grin

Moderate week here. Am off to have girls' evening in a bit, although not a big drinking night, just chatter really.

alison222 · 06/07/2012 16:08

Sorry the party may have to wait a while in this house unless it is virtual Wine too, as I have to watch DD's gym club end of year display later.
mind you virtualWine is more virtuous Grin.

We still have 2 more weeks of school to go here and DS is getting more angsty by the day as the routine is turned upside down.

I have just found out that the very expensive playscheme I booked for the first week of the holidays want me to find a helper for DS that he knows and is comfortable with as they don't want to use an agency in case the personalities don't match. Aghhh! why didn't they tell me before I bloody well paid. So wish me luck everyone in my quest. Sadly Ds's TA who would have done it, has to be available for school that week as the first 3 days of the hols are officially training days.

I hope your party gets going Uncharted and I may pop back in to see how its going if I may later.....

Fantastic unchartered! :)

I am up for plenty of Wine tonight, got DS1's proposed statement, it is crap, but am on a mission this weekend to rewrite it, email it to LEA and tell them if they don't agree with my version they can finalise and I am appealing.

It really is crap though...

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/07/2012 16:21

Great news, Unchartered! Wine tonight.

Have a drink for me, Triggles.

Playscheme sound a bit of a pain, Alison. So what if you can't find anyone, they'll refund you? And leave you in the lurch?

Busy, busy week here. It was DS2's AR on Monday, which went really well. DS1 and 2 had parents' evenings and got their reports. I magnanimously 'allowed' dickhead to go to them. Grin Both boys did well enough. No Einsteins, but good effort ratings, so I was very happy with them. Then DS1 and 2 had school trips on Wed. Then today DS2 (with ASD) has gone on a day trip to France, leaving at 5.00am this morning, back tonight at 11.30pm! I'm really tired from getting up at 4.00am, god knows how he's feeling. Hope the weather was better for them than it is here.

I've finally got an interview for a TA job, supporting a Reception child with a statement, next Thurs. Big change from the year 6 lad I'll be leaving if I get it. So please cross fingers for me on Thurs. I really need the job and I can't help thinking this child could do worse than have me as his TA. Blush

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/07/2012 16:23

Crossed Starfish. Shite about the statement. At least you know it's shite, I suppose. Some less knowledgeable parents might have accepted it and even been grateful. Good luck.

UnChartered · 06/07/2012 16:23

thanks all

not quite sure how we'll do with the extended school holiday, but have enrolled her in some ASD-friendly playschemes and activities and am at home with her all of the time, and we haven't actually had her new school place confirmed yet - but that's all a technicality Wink

UnChartered · 06/07/2012 16:26

star like Ellen says, some parents wouldn't know what a 'bad' statement looks like, so good on ya!

alison i hope they p-scheme organisers have asked you to help in conjunction with them? part of the fees, surely?

insanityscratching · 06/07/2012 16:30

Brilliant news Unchartered, rubbish weekend then Starfish, that's poor of the playscheme Alison.

Pretty normal week chez insanity ds's mood swings are phenomenal so will probably ask for referral to psych if they don't even out a little.
School sent dd home with a bag of flour to transform into a flour baby that she has to care for 24/7 for a week Dd will take this seriously and so will involve much stropping if it gets moved or I insist it stays home when we go out..... wonderful Hmm
Plans for the weekend include transforming said flour into a baby and a trip to the cinema and not a lot else.
Glad we have two more weeks of school as I'm not ready for having them home just yet.

Ineedalife · 06/07/2012 16:32

Congrats unchartered enjoy your extended hols.

Dd3 has made a passport at school this week and bought it home for me to see today. It is a great idea and contains loads of properly useful info about her. I am impressed.

We have the school last night of the proms tonight under a big marquee[to keep us dry]

Have a good weekend allSmile

insanityscratching · 06/07/2012 16:32

Cross posted good luck Ellen I'd be very happy to have a TA who had real life experience at home too.

alison222 · 06/07/2012 16:36

uncharted, Ellen, they basically can't discriminate, and there is funding from the council for this for them - but they have to organise it and want me to find someone I am comfortable with as they have had mismatches in the past with staff. While I understand this, I don't think this should be down to me, but with the the help of the out of school lady I'm sure it will eventually get sorted.
Just a hassle I didn't need on a Friday afternoon.
Starfish good luck with the re-write.

alison222 · 06/07/2012 16:37

insanity What exactly is a "flour baby"? Is that going to involve lots of salt dought or something?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/07/2012 16:40

Thanks insanity. Thanks I was wondering what a flour baby was, too. Confused

creatovator · 06/07/2012 16:54

Great news Unchartered. A good, supportive school makes such a difference Smile.

Triggles Enjoy your evening.

Alison What a bummer nuisance.

Star Sending chocs to get you through the weekend Smile.

Ellen well done to your DSs and hope you get the job.

Insanity Why do they do it to us?

Ineed Soooo good when they bring things like that back. Enjoy the prom.

Good if mixed week here. We're well into hols now. DS had play scheme and did really well with challenging transitions etc. DD wasn't well at start of week with some weird 48 hour virus like flu, but not thankfully. Felt sorry for her, but it gave me peace and quiet to get on with Uni work. Saw my Uni tutor who's impressed with my work and reckons I'm at the stage of pulling everything together now.

I'm off shopping tonight for jeans or trousers. Haven't decided which to get.

Probably xposted loads now.

UnChartered · 06/07/2012 17:01

have just opened DD's lunch bag [slattern emoticon] and found a little bag of sweets tied up with a ribbon and a loveheart-shaped note from her dinner lady wishing her all the best Sad

what a shame the SENCO is such a twunt

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/07/2012 17:01

Hi creatovator. Well done on your Uni work. Are you in Scotland, I forget? Still got a week and a half eft of school here, then a weird old summer holiday for me with the boys going away for 10 days with dickhead. That's a looong time. I'll need lots of hand holding. Sad

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/07/2012 17:02

Aww, nice to know she'll be missed by the nice people, UnChartered.

insanityscratching · 06/07/2012 17:04

Basically it is transform a bag of flour with clothes, limbs and head and make it into a baby. This baby has to be cared for 24/7 by the child or babysat by others. At the end of the week baby is weighed to see how much flour it has lost (by being dropped) or gained (by getting wet) It's supposed to work on responsibility and cooperation. It will be a PITA because dd will take it very seriously and will cry if it gets dropped or gets wet. Plan on sealing bag with tape and polythene to improve its chances before dressing Wink

creatovator · 06/07/2012 17:06

Aww that's lovely Unchartered.

Ellen Yes I'm in Scotland. DCs have been off for week and a half now. You'll definitely gets lots of hand holding when you come on here.

moosemama · 06/07/2012 17:08

Well, I have just read and instantly forgotten pretty much the whole thread. Blush

However, Wine super news UnChartered, hope you have a fantastic summer holiday now as well.

We have almost three weeks to go and ds1 is disintegrating a little more each day. He's had his transition day though and is happy with who he's got next year, but still can't deal with the loss of this year's teacher/classroom/timetable etc.

There's lots more crap going on, but I am too tired and sick of it all to type it here and it would probably only bring the thread down anyway. Feels a bit like every time we feel things can't get any worse - they do and then some.

I am down to two dcs this evening, as ds2 has gone to his best friends house. Unfortunately ds1 can't cope with things being 'different' and has stropped, tantrummed and fought with dd from the minute we got home.

Roll on bedtime!

creatovator · 06/07/2012 17:10

Insanity I've never heard of that before... good idea about sealing it.

creatovator · 06/07/2012 17:12

Moose sorry to hear you're still having a tough time. Have some Thanks to brighten up your evening.

moosemama · 06/07/2012 17:12

Oo, I know what I was going to ask you lot.

Does anyone have any brilliant ideas or products that I can use to help organise the mountain of statement and appeal papers I have accumulated?

I need it to be as portable as possible and foolproof in terms of finding everything. Got caught out on the phone to Ipsea this week when I couldn't find a particular letter. It was right there in front of me, but caught between two other pieces of paper. Highly frustrating and embarrassing all at the same time.

I need to seriously up my game and get organised.

moosemama · 06/07/2012 17:12

Aw thanks creatovator. Smile

creatovator · 06/07/2012 17:18

I use lever arch files with lots of card separaters for all my Uni papers. It means I can call each section what I want and can even categorise big sections into smaller sections when necessary.
