DS had bloods done local to be sent off to London for Array CGH, Chromosomes/FISH & Biochemical Genetics

Was a right cock up, first argued doc should do it but gave us nurse, then nurse said no she dont do it its the doc. Then said he needed numbing cream. Anyhow hour and half later DS just said "get on with it no numbing cream been he long enough" Nurse got doc, nurse sneered as if DS wouldnt let it happen without this cream, then sat there with her face with a goldfish bowl impression when it was all done and dusted Grin Reward was a big fry up breakie at witherspoons what lad was going to refuse that reward Grin

I know the bloods need to get up there in 72 hours but how long do these tests take and results given?

Only because I am worried the surgery may have got it wrong. They had to phone up their bloods dept to get the info on the phials even though the form told them which ones they still couldnt work out the colour. Then they said they send the blood to their bloods centre and they pass it on.

I got a feeling I may be buying another breakie.....

I have been waiting for a FISH result for about 3 weeks - Anything to do with chromosome testing can take a while I think.

I think we waited about 6 months for the results of dd3's CGH, it's not a quick one but does depend on how many people are in the queue too, so could be quicker for you, I seem to remember there was a bit of a backlog at the time.

We waited for 4 months for the results of ds's cgh array, and now they want to do further testing and results will be a couple of months.

When we had blood gases and some very specific tests which had to be put on ice done, they took 12 samples in one go, then 2 months later they said that half the samples had been spoiled in transit, and so would have to be done again, it was then another 2 months for results. I hate blood tests (actually that should be, ds hates blood tests!)

DS has done it on the understanding that he doesnt have to do it again (well that is what he has told himself bless him)

I should think your DS hates them Hazey poor mite!

Thanks for letting me know guys at least I know there is quite a delay in results so I think I will phone up the line in a week to make sure they arrived safely and then forget all about it for a couple months Smile
