Educational Psychologist is coming to see DS on Wedsnesday, I have been told she will observe DS in his class and then take him out and see how he is with 1:1.
I will be seeing her at 2.45pm that day to see what she thinks, but just wondering what peoples experiences are?

My DD has just been seen by an ed psych. She is quite young though at 3.7.
She was observed at pre school and then she did some tests with her to see how she did in various things; verbal understanding, speech, drawing and something to do with patterns.

She was then able to tell us how she did in each area and therefore where she felt she needed more help.

She also said she was making a referral as she feels DD is ASD. She is the first professional to think that this is a possibility and I think it was because she saw her in her learning environment where it is more obvious.

HTH.

Thanks.
DS is ASD, he is 5, he's had difficulties at school since starting last year, he doesn't communicate with adults he doesn't know, even ones he does know its hit and miss. I did tell senco this the other day as she was doing CIT forms and had to get his opinion of school! She took his friend off with him and he interacted with her ok that way, I just am not sure if ed.psych are allowed to do this.

We saw one for DS1 before he started pre-school, before he got DX'd with AS, and she was great. She listened to me describing him and then summed up what she'd gathered his needs would be wrt pre-school and she got him to a T.
