Safety Reins

One of my twin ds's is 4.5 (dx ASD) some PDA?? traits also. He displays very challenging behaviour which we manage using various strategies, both at home and preschool, (he has aways had 1-2-1 support and will do at school also) however it's when we are out of the house that the situation can become difficult to manage.

An example... Yesterday on a pre school trip to a theme park for under 10's, I had to take my 2 sisters with me... and even with 3 adults he still managed to get loose and was off and boy he can sprint Olympic style. Anyway had I not caught his raincoat out of the corner of my eye, he would have been lost, he would not have cared about being lost, nor would he have cried for me, he would have continued to amuse himself doing his own thing, until we found him. All day he continued to try and break free and even when in a secure play area, I had to sit by the one entrance to ensure he didn't escape.

I really don't enjoy outings anymore, as I am on high alert the whole time, that doesn't bother me so much as I do it for his enjoyment, not mine, but I am worried about becoming increasingly house bound due to lack of support when taking him out. My DH works away for weeks at a time and my sisters all work. I am lucky in that his twin brother is very good and if I have to give chase, he will stand still and wait for me, not ideal for him though, is it.

Can anyone recommend any safety harnesses/reins/straps that we could use, he is quite tall at 120cm, and is very strong, so normal wrist straps are useless. Also any experiences where using the above have just caused the challenging behaviour to esculate would be great.

Any other suggestions would be great too.

Try this place Crelling.
When I ordered I rang it in and found them very helpful.

Thank you... tried ringing, but they are on holiday until 13th, so will ring back then.

Are there any users out there that could say whether they found them beneficial or not.
