F**king LEA.................

Had our tribunal decision today and they favoured the LEA and our appeal for a statement turned down. Obviously the LEA's bullshit has convinced the panel, feel I have wasted nearly 18months of my life fighting for this.

Just like to thank everyone for their support and advice over the last few months which carried me through the whole process, thank you very much. However it's time for me to take a rest and try and get my life back as I have a long rehabilitation road to recovery on my damaged arm substained whilst celebrating the end of my tribunal, quite ironic really. So instead of attending appointments with the LEA/SEN/GOSH/EP/Paeds/CAMHS, I have subsistuted them with hospitals and physio.

Time for a break me thinks, good luck to you all

Bye for now
Nick

Oh nick am really sorry to hear this :(

Am sure you can get some advice on what to do next on here, take a bit of time and come back when you ready.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 03/07/2012 15:20

Nick. This doesn't just happen to you. I know that is no comfort at this stage but knowing that the system is rife with this crap means you can know it isn't personal and not blame yourself for not having won iyswim.

You couldn't have not tried. It's flawed but the only system we have and you WILL recover from this. Many on here have and many have had good outcomes in the end, as exhausting as it might be thinking about where you go next and how.

Have a well earned rest and focus on your family over the summer.

Good luck.

Sorry Nick I think I was one of the ones who encouraged you to fight the note in lieu descision. Did they give reasons?

So sorry Nick. Sad

Sorry to hear about your arm as well.

Definitely give yourself a break and allow yourself to enjoy the summer with your family.

coff33pot · 03/07/2012 17:45

:( I am so sorry to read this Nick.

Have a good break and nurse that arm better. Be proud of yourself for being such a caring parent to go to battle against such a vile system as this.

I have nothing more I can say other than I am so disapointed for you and your family x

bialystockandbloom · 03/07/2012 21:10

Oh god almighty I am so sorry and gutted for you all Sad

I really hope that your ds gets suitable support even without the statement. With you as his dad and fighting on his behalf he will be ok, despite the disappointing outcome today.

Hope you have a good summer and that your arm heals quickly!

steelev48 · 03/07/2012 22:55

I'm sorry that the decision didn't go in your favour. It definitely sounds like time for a break and to recharge so that you are ready for whatever it is you will need to do next.

I always think that the most important thing for us as parents is that inner knowledge that we damn well did all we could for our kids no matter the odds stacked against us. You can do that.

Also you have told the school, LA etc, etc that "hey this is a parent who does give a damn about their child's education". I think that in itself is really important as it helps prevent your child being "written off" as is the fate of so many young children nowadays. Every parent that dares do what you did helps show that ALL kids need to be educated, not just those ideally suited to the current sausage factory regime.

Take a break, recuperate and get your own helath back.

beautifulgirls · 04/07/2012 14:10

Sorry for the news - and hope your arm is feeling better soon. The fight isn't over, just taking a break.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/07/2012 14:29

Am so sorry to read that the Tribunal went in the LEAs favour. Presumably you have seen written submissions from this panel as to why they acted the way they did.

Do SEND not have a additional Tribunal that can be appealed to?.

For now recuperate and regroup is the order of the day.

Hope you make a speedy recovery.
