weird journal actually- looks quite alternativey! I have heard a radio interview by the authors before- they were very good.

just read that.I can understand it depressing the hell out of you .Has the british govt.banned thimersol yet?And how do you pronounce it,is the "h"silent?

Have had ds detoxed homeopathically from his vaccines. The detox was quite amazing! He was really unwell, which is a good thing apparently. His health has improved loads, but hard to prove why so generally don't tell people about it.

sorry for the ramble

They switched to thimerosal free baby jabs at the end of 2004- it wasn't ever banned exactly though.

Did you use thuja?

Makes me feel sick thinking about it.

Dont' recall what remedies were named. He took a different remedy for each vaccine,so each week we had a different reaction to the detox, varying from fever, rash, vomiting, earaches, quite a variety.

He sees a homeopath that has a childrens clinic.Don't know how much of it is rubbish but so far we're pleased with the results.

JakB · 28/02/2006 14:23

I've not done this, is it worth doing?

getbakainyourjimjams · 28/02/2006 14:25

Under the premise that it won't do any harm if it doesn't work JakB then yes. I started using homeopathy quite a bit with my kids because it seems to work and is safe.

THe reason I did it was ds problems all started after his first vaccine at 6 weeks or something. His problems are excema (quite severe when younger) ,asthma and allergies.

His excema has all but disappeared .I don't know if this is to do with outgrowing it,reducing is milk or the homeo. But don't care reallySmile

His asthma was the most worrying,he's been rushed to A&E a few times and would have bad bouts of asthma needing oral steroids every month or so..He hasn't had an asthma attack since his detox5 months ago,he may have outgrown it or we may be just going through a good patch. He's had colds and coughs since and hasn't even become wheezy, unheard of before.

He also has a severe allergy to nuts, which I presume he still has, gets tested yearly.I don't expect this to improve unfortunately.

So I feel it has done something good for ds,but it's an individual thing really.

Do you go to the christina head (??? something like that) clinic?

No,a local woman who happens to do a childrens clinic.Got a flyer about it in ds's bookbag from nursery.

The journal is a right wing American publication that links things like immigration with poor health care for Americans, and links abortion with breast cancer. It used to be called "Medical Sentinal" and has a different idea of peer review than most. The Geiers, the authors, are a father son team doing research from their home, and are highly controversial. Read the article carefully and thoroughly and look at the graphs yourself. Do you see a straight line that could be drawn from start to end with a continuing upward trend? I do. I'd love to have the raw data. Note that the California data is not intended to be used for such purpose as the Geiers are using it. Here's a good post:
