apparantly as he can't leave the house or car and needs it for social, emotional, behavioural, educational and communication it wasn't classed as a priority.

They were oversubscribed with applications so had to prioritise.

This was my last email..........

I just feel the need for this has been underestimated. I have a child who cannot leave the house or car. He has severe learning
disabilities as well as down syndrome and an ongoing assessment for autistic spectrum disorder and pathological demand avoidance syndrome.
As he is prisoner in his own life, this could of helped him emotionally, socially, educationally and aid his communication. Maybe if he
could go outside the trike he was assessed for over 5 year ago may have been seen as a priority as it's more specialised. I also feel
unfairness in being able to reapply in 12 months, due to the lifestyle I have due to my sons needs I am unable to access the outdoors much
also. The professionals wrote their letters in January and it took me months before I was able to get out for a quote! The same will
happen in 12 months and again he may not be successful. Maybe unsuccessful applications should be queued. The application was physically
and mentally draining without having to go through it all again. Thanks anyway.

of course it was done in a haste and doesn't list all his conditions etc or how we can also use it effectively in medical circumstances as well as the others.

I'm a tad gutted whereas he is oblivious!!

Aww what a shame. Who did you apply to for the grant?? Have you tried family fund ? We've had a grant off them two years running

devientenigma · 29/06/2012 15:31

I haven't Chundle partly as we were going to try FF for a summerhouse, just a cheap one, in hopes it would entice him in the garden (another place he can't go lol)

It was the sunshine fund up North.

That would have so good for your DS and for you in that they recognise how isolating DS's life is at present. :(

I know as well as family fund cerebra do grants too.

thing is star we also need funding for a safe space or tomcat travel bed. With us as a family and me in particular having no respite from him having one of these would allow him to sleep at his nannas. He's in a specialist bed which isn't portable. Don't hold my hopes out for one of those now!!

Wouldn't care Iv'e had his trike form filled with OT/Physio letters here, just needed to finish the forms for over 5 year lol, no time, no energy to get the paperwork together. This one was easy as no financial to fill in.

Iv'e also had his all terrain buggy form just about ready for over a year!!

The one thing I do get round to finishing..................gets the knock back and not because of need, just too many wanting/needing.

If its your first application to ff they usually fund up to 850-900 on first applications so may be able to fund a few items
