After giving NHS a chance, back to private route..deciding between the two programmes. What factors did you take into account while deciding which therapy to use in the long term? Have you got any negative experiences with either of the approaches?

TBH, I'd be less concerned about choosing between them, and more concerned about the consultant/team delivering it. Flexibility, affordability, right 'fit' for your family, availability, experience, involvement of parents etc. all vital.

ESDM is ABA.
You mean rather EIBI (Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention)

Star is right thoguh. Meet some of the people and get a feel for them.
ESDM is very creative and warm and spontaneous (seemingly-it is in fact meticulously planned) but then again so are good EIBI programmes.

I think only one person in the UK is at present licensed to use ESDM (Star will put me right on that).
I have had the good fortune to hear Professor Sally Rogers speak and to chat with her privately. She is great.

Moondog I had Ruth Glyn Owen for the initial assesment, she was great. Afterwards though, locally all tutors are trained in ABA- I'm just an interested parent, but I understood there are some differences between them. But I think you are both right, will meet whoever is available and see how we all ´click´.

Oh, any good ABA trained tutor can work on the ESDM programme if that is what you want. One of our tutors was floortime trained and she was great! Again, it is really down to the people and their willingness to learn.

All programmes shoukd be individual so all tutors need to be supervised by programme writer iyswim.
