Documentary. Kim Peek, 54, is the world's most famous savant and was the inspiration behind the Oscar-winning film `Rain Man'. He was diagnosed as mentally retarded at birth and the neurosurgeon who first saw him advised his parents to place him in an institution. But Kim's parents refused to give up on him and, with the support of his father Fran, he's developed a memory without equal and has become a household name in the USA.

I thought that it was absolutely brilliant and so was kim and his father!!!!

The way they kept on speaking about developmental disabillities was very interesting as my DS has been DX'd with GDD etc.... And now all the tests that can be done is amazing, well it would be if they offered them on the NHS!!!!!

It was very moving to watch and i hope it makes people stop and think that although someone may be mentally challenged due to developmental or other brain damaging disabillities, does not mean that they are not clever!!
