Can you get DLA for child under 3????

I am currently awaiting for a diagnosis for my son who is 2 1/2. It looks like he may have autism. Would I still be able to apply, even tho he has not been diagnosed yet.???

you do not need a dx to apply or to receive DLA (dla is supposed to be based on the needs you have not the dx but a dx has helped in our case).

it's 3 for the high rate mobility component, the care component you can get before that. Definitely have a look at the cerebra or contact a family guide to filling the form out of you decide to apply.

Yes. But you can't qualify for the mobility element before 3, just the care element.

It would need to be a pretty watertight case to get dla for asd at 2.5, though, with significant differences between care requirements to that of an nt 2.5 yo. (ie, most 2.5 yos require 1-1 attention etc). Although it is perfectly possible to apply based on need rather than dx, you will need appropriate evidence from professionals that he has additional care requirements to back up your application.

Dd2 was awarded high rate at 6mos.

Yes ds2 got middle rate dla when he was just over 2 set until he was 5, then extra mobility forms to fill in when he was over 3.

My Ds got it at 15 months

The whole process is a headache!
