Family fund-good news for DD when she comes home

Not that I will say much as she won't understand its not now. But family fund have given us money towards a holiday (I chose Thomas Cook) and argos vouchers for garden toys.

Where shall we go? What shall we buy? I am thinking a trampoline mini thing with handle for the garden, must look up my small gardens thread too for ideas.

And as I had a baby last weekend probably will wait till end of august for the holiday, possibly south Devon to maximise weather potential (as much as possible in this country!) to a quiet park with lodges or a cottage-think DD would find a proper holiday park too much).

Its come at a good time, DD is in hospital with her daddy because she got unwell over the last couple of days and needed her drip (related to her condition) hospital is not unusual for her but its the first time I havent been the one in with her. And because of the new baby -what a bad message to dd Sad so its great to have good news and I can treat dd to new garden toys.

That's good news, used2. I hope your DD is better soon.

Anyway, have you seen this thread? I think it may cheer you up

Thanks Congratulations xx

Good news on the Family Fund!

Congratulations too on your new arrival :)

Really hope your DD is home soon and wish her a speedy recovery x

Fantastic, so glad it has come through now, and you can spend some time planning what to spend the money on, and looking forward to your holiday. I hope your dd1 is going to be home soon, and you can all be together again.

We always have lovely holidays in South Devon (near Totnes) and I would recommend the Purbecks in Dorset too.

We are looking at a little playhouse for ds, we thought we'd try and turn it into a mini outdoor sensory room (ie somewhere to escape his rampaging big sisters!)

Hope you are doing ok.Smile

Thanks Ellenjane I hadn't seen that thread, ah how lovely! DD hopefully will be home later today.

ooh x posts sorry. Thanks starfish, hopefully she will be out today.

Thanks hazey, will look at purbecks. South Devon is definately appealing to me.

You have also reminded me that we did look at some playhouses at argos, what a lovely idea with the sensory room-I intended under DD's cabin bed to be that but somehow it has got full of all sorts of toys and storage already so outdoors could be another option and a little escape for her.

Nice to be able to plan ahead to normality. DD had a "funny turn" in hospital, sort of a faint or fit so the reason she is staying longer is that. Hoping we don't have something more on our hands, they are saying it shouldnt have happened due to the existing condition alone. So I am glad to have distraction.

oh thats great used2!

What a nice surprise for her. A holiday will do you all good to relax away from home too :)

Hope baby used2 is doing well and sorry to hear your DD had a funny turn bless her. I hope she picks up soon. Dont worry about not being there due to baby I am sure the novelty of having Daddy all to herself will be nice for her :)

used2bthin · 23/06/2012 20:23

Thanks coff, she's now home on bed leave. They wanted her in another night but let her come back with me due to the situation, she's still got the canula in and I had to ring to confirm she had kept her meds down and we'll go back in for a check over tomorrow and hopefully get the canula out, DD hates it (understandably).

So glad to have her home. The sad thing is she's gone from being over the moon with having a baby sister to really rejecting her but I guess she may have done that anyway once the novelty wore off.

Congratulations (for the new baby and the family fund), will be fab to have something for your dd to look forward too (the holiday) and i'm sure she will love a trampoline (ours has bought hours of fun). We go on holiday to Devon in a very quite caravan park, it has a lovely little park and a indoor pool (which we always have to ourselves as we go in school time when there are not many kids about).

ThoughtBen10WasBadPokemonOMG · 23/06/2012 20:59

That's good news re the FF. Hope she feels a bit better soon and that she takes to her new little sister again when she is feeling herself.

coff33pot · 23/06/2012 21:30

You cold always wrap up the tramoline and place a card on top with a pic of her baby sister in it saying something like "thank you for being nice to me I am glad to have a big sister like you to help me" :)

Then put the card on her wall as a reminder.

It may work we did it for DD when DS was born (with a smaller gift though lol)

used2bthin · 23/06/2012 23:19

thank you marne, a quiet park sounds good. Can't wait to get brochures, been looking online but am better with brochures somehow.

Thanks ben10, I hope so too. Such bad timing poor DD1. But she was a state generally today hopefully she'll be better tomorrow. especially when th canula is gone.

coff thats a lovely idea. Her baby sister has already bought her an android tablet she must be rich Grin . I like the card idea to remind her.

Feel so shattered tonight its the first day i've not slept in the day since baby arrived. Must try and sleep while they are.bet it doesnt ast long!

Hi used2, sorry to hear poor dd has been in hospital and is still not well.

I was about to make the same suggestion as coff33, to tell her that her new sister wanted to buy her something special and chose a trampoline, or something to that effect.

Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end last night and that dd has her canula out is feeling happier.

used2bthin · 24/06/2012 22:15

thanks moosemama. Unfortunately she had a seizure after they took the canula out. A jerking about one. She has had seizures before but this was the most scary I have seen. Seems to be happening in response to stress.

At least it was seen by the nurse which should mean its documented and will make it easier to describe.

Should have said she is actually ok now and home. She has been manic, licking things and a bit aggressive towards me but seems much more herself now.

moosemama · 24/06/2012 22:21

Oh no used2, I am so sorry to hear that, it must have been really scary for you. Sad

You poor thing, you must be so stressed out with a poorly dd and a newborn to cope with as well.

I hope she improves soon and things start to settle down in the used2 household, so you can all enjoy your new enlarged family.

Sending you some very unMNetty ((hugs)) and lots of love and light. x

moosemama · 24/06/2012 22:23

Cross posted.

So glad she is ok and back at home where she can start to wind down and feel safe.

Hope she calms down and starts to settle soon now she's back in her own environment. x

used2bthin · 24/06/2012 22:39

Thank you, very much hoping for things to calm down now x
