Hi all. Thank goodness for the weekend . I am exhausted as have hardly slept all week because of all the school stress. Also had a meeting with EP and CP today as part of the dx process - looks like it's going to be PDA. Have done loads of research and was kind of expecting it but still......
The good news is that the CP and EP are quite clued up on it which will be good when we come to review the sm shortly. Not sure what lies ahead for secondary though. Need a few Wine tonight I think.
Hope the weeks not been too bad for you all, although I know from the threads there's a lot of stress out there Sad

Oh, I get it now zzzzz, very apt description actually.

We are the same about our picnic. Metcheck says dry for where we are supposed to be going and ordinarily it wouldn't matter because we could picnic in the camper, but it's currently kaput off the road, so we're going to be crammed in the car like sardines with two smelly dogs instead. Hmm The idea of telling ds1 we are not going though is enough to make us don wellies and rain capes and make the best of whatever the British weather wants to throw at us! Grin

Frustrated, cross-posted again, sorry.

Glad you have a dx to work with and help push for the right support for your dd.

Don't envy you the with the weekend eating statement. I swear my poor brain actually hurt the first time I properly went through our proposed.

I've been doing an hour a day this week, going through it with a view to producing a nice evidenced report for our appeal. Still have a looong way to go until it's finished, but seeing as we don't actually have a finalised statement yet Hmm I feel it's best to do it a bit at a time rather than getting overwhelmed by the whole thing - again!

Good luck Wine

moosemama · 22/06/2012 19:26

myglad, you poor thing, what a shitty week. ((hugs)) Sad

MyAngelChuckles · 22/06/2012 19:38

TY Moose and Zzzzz, been a long time in the works but getting there :)

Your also both very brave to be risking the weather lol, I hate the rain, ds loooves puddles tho so if it does get wet enough for puddles I'll be dragged out to go splashing Hmm

Are statements really that long? I've only gotten to the stage where they have agreed that there are grounds to assess for one and have to wait til mid july to find out if they will actually issue one Confused.

Gz on your dx btw Frustrated :)

frustratedpants · 22/06/2012 19:41

Moose - how big is yours? I've got 13 pages before appendix a, and whilst part of me thinks, woo that's great, I'm frustrated that time scales aren't specified, (eg 1:1) everything is too wooly for my liking, and I'm getting pedantic over the word "sign".
And if I didn't have to work school hours I could have phones someone today. But now have all weekend to stew. And 3 days In the post means I only have 12 days to reply.

moosemama · 22/06/2012 20:02

Frustrated/MyAngel, ds's stagement is 12 pages plus about 3/4's of an inch thick of appendices.

Ours was exactly the same, totally wooly, fully of 'weasel words' and really not worth the paper it's written on. The school loved it! Hmm Angry They flatly refused to either quantify or specify, so we are off to tribunal.

IPSEA are closed weekends, but their lines are open 7-9 pm weekday evenings.

Also found out that they aren't allowed to include postage time in your 15 days - they tried that one on me as well. The 15 day window starts from when you have the document in your hands. Our LEA told us it started from when they finished typing it, then waiting another 24 hours to post it and it took a week to arrive! Shock However, the legalese stuff in the letter clearly stated 15 days from receipt of the letter and proposed statement. I have since had this confirmed by several people, on here and elsewhere.

mycarscallednev · 22/06/2012 20:08

Hells arses, I'm on Statement unpick next week - stand by your beds - you know what's on it's way........

NoHaudinMaWheest · 22/06/2012 20:26

Hi all. Sorry for all those having bad weeks especially having to go through statements and make them into documents that actually mean something.
Think I'm going to have to do something similar soon. DS's statement is hopelessly out of date and if he is going to get an appropriate post 16 placement his next AR will actually be a total rewrite.
Mixed week here. My ME is still playing up though a little better than last week. It has had the unintended consequence that when DS has been late and missed the school bus (as happens at least once a week), he went in a taxi on his own instead of my having to go with him. We also got an EP assessment for a couple of weeks time which I first requested in October.

frustratedpants · 22/06/2012 20:29

That's good to know moose. (15 days)
What am i supposed do I do 1st? Contact lea and arrange a phonecall and/or meeting? parent partnership? Phone call? Letter? Aah so confuzzed by it all.

2old2beamum · 22/06/2012 20:29

May I commiserate with all those who have had a bad week. Like you mine has been crap. DS3 had seizure while helping me get washing in, on the ground shingle going everywhere phone goes school DS4 has had 5 seizures and is on the way to hosp 28 miles away. 2old running round like demented chicken lands up spending 3 nights in hosp. If that wasn't enough DD's2&3 have cardiac appts told DH make sure undies are not grey and tatty DD3 wears brand new NEXT lemon trousers 1hrs journey to hosp gets there large red patch on trousers. DHBlush
Good points now home older DC's had brilliant reviews
I am knackeredWineWineand more {wine]
Well done to those few who have had a good week

NoHaudinMaWheest · 22/06/2012 20:48

2old that sounds like a truly terrible week. How are DS 3 and 4 now?

moosemama · 22/06/2012 20:49

NoHaudin, sorry you are still struggling with the ME relapse. Bonus if it has helped your ds to face doing something without your support though - well done to him for managing it.

Frustrated, it's hard to know what to do isn't it. I was exactly the same. I hadn't a clue where to start really, posted in panic on here and some of these wonderful folks had to hand hold me through it. Blush I'd suggest doing what you had planned, spending the weekend really working through it and getting a good clear idea of what it's lacking and what you want in terms of amendments.

I would then advise a call to IPSEA on Monday night to see what they think, but then I personally don't trust PP generally speaking (although have recently been told ours can be very good if you get the right person).

If it comes down to essentially a rewrite or millions of amendments, then you can either ring and ask for a meeting OR return it with a letter asking them to make your amendments and issue a second proposed. Lots of people advise going for the meeting, as it shows you have been reasonable and willing to try and negotiate should you eventually end up in a tribunal situation. We didn't go for the meeting, but I did call and discuss whether we needed to with our designated officer, who told me we didn't then refused every amendment to part 3. Angry We had an agreement with her that she would issue a second proposed, but she failed to do so, despite us having confirmation that the agreement was clearly marked on ds1's case file. She then got the school SENCO to call us in and try to talk us out of the amendments rather than speak to us herself. Angry Angry Farcical really, she still hasn't spoken to us and we met with the school on 31 May and have subsequently sent her a letter instructing her to finalise so we can appeal! Angry Angry Angry

moosemama · 22/06/2012 20:50

Badvoc · 22/06/2012 23:29

2old - I am so sorry to hear how awful your week has been :( you poor thing!
For everyone else dealing with crap this week I hope for better for you all next week x
I have foolishly been posting on the bus threads and am so so depressed/angry/upset!
It's just incredible to me that actual grown adults need to ask questions about whether they should move a buggy for a wheelchair user!! YESSS!
Not fecking rocket science is it?
Think I have got a water infection too which making me feel a tad grouchy :)
And apparently it's ok for posters to hold disablist views as long as they are well educated......aargh....

Badvoc · 23/06/2012 10:02

Ok, am not posing anywhere but this anymore.
It's just too draining.
I can't fight them all.
:(

2old2beamum · 23/06/2012 10:09

Badvoc- I shall be joining you this is the only board that has any kind of humanity. As you say can't fight anymore.

Badvoc · 23/06/2012 10:10
