New Blue Disabled Parking Badge Holder

Tiggywunkle · 22/06/2012 00:15

Does anyone know where you can get a holder to fit the new style Blue Disabled Parking Badges (the plastic ones with the photo on the rear)?
We have just received our first blue badge, and we dont know if its the same size as the old style blue badge. All the photos online show the old pass in the holders and the new one looks bigger...is it?
If I dont get a holder its going to get wrecked over the next few years!!
Thanks in advance!

I don't know about size but there are some on amazon for less than £2 with no p&p so could be worth trying a really cheap one to see. I would offer to measure dd3's badge but dh has the car today.

www.bluebadgecompany.co.uk/

Sorry pressed Enter too soon! We used this company - funky covers - my son chose a black/white cow cover and it makes the badge look less 'disability utility' if that makes sense? x

We got our renewal badge last Nov and it fits in the same cover as the previous one. Don't know when they changed though.

Thanks. Ours is a plastic one - like a giant credit card!

The Blue Badge company covers do apparently fit so I have ordered one. Thanks!

No problem - my son loves his cover - better than a boring blue one with a disabled loo sign on the front!

bigbluebus · 22/06/2012 18:56

Love those covers nev. Hadn't seen that website before. DD has a plain pink cover but might treat her to a new one. Also gives me an idea for a leaving gift for a school friend of hers - as I'm sure she won't have one quite that fancy!!!

We could start a Blue Badge Cover envy thread!

I ordered a wallet from the Blue Badge company and my blue badge doesn't fit in it? Sad

Please read the instructions on the new style blue badge as it says not to put into a plastic covering as it will damage the hologram information part.

bigbluebus · 01/12/2012 11:39

The Blue Badge Company website says their covers are 'hologram safe':-

"New Hologram-Safe Blue Badge Wallet to protect, display and store ALL badge sizes and timer clocks. Compact, stylish and easy to use!

Specially designed to ensure the hologram is not behind plastic, or rubbed when taken out - as specified by The Department of Transport. Your permit is displayed legally, protected from damage and easily removed for inspection. Dimensions: 17cm x 15cm (opening to 34cm x 15cm)"

I haven't tried one personally though! Don't think DD has the new style badge yet.

Mine is duck egg blue suede

The new style badge prevents some fraud but it does not prevent theft of the badge itself.

I think the new blue badge protector is the best device for protecting your new bluebadge, while displaying it at the same time.

The website is www.parkingforbluebadges.com

These guys are doing a 30% christmas discount as well when you use the voucher code "XMAS201".

bbsaviour · 04/12/2012 11:58

"XMAS2012"

Grockle · 04/12/2012 20:51

The blue badge company ones are fine for the new style, just not for the odd ones in a couple of local authorities where the clock and card bit are attached.
