Have to vent about this am really p'd off

They make the decision to issue a note in lieu after loads of delays, but they still haven't bloody issued it!

I have spoke to case manager who just keeps telling me it will be with me soon, some waffle about the manager who signs it is only part time etc etc.

I have told them I am appealing but can't do it until they issue the stupid thing.

I feel angry, sick and fuming that they are still messing me about.

Sorry am so cross and have to let it out.

Yes will do that, if I can find out who that is. If that doesn't work am going to go to their office and refuse to leave until they give it to me.

Contact your Local Councillor. Councillors really can get things moving.

starfish71 · 18/06/2012 18:24

Good idea will get in touch with them. Thanks leonie & Wet.

Starfish - I ended up doing that blast year - sitting in the office - well I sent dh down! It was ages after the meeting had been held and there was delay after delay getting the decision ib writing - as soon as he turned up the letter was handed straight over with a grovelling apology!

starfish71 · 19/06/2012 12:54

Saga continues, it will be brought over to me tonight or tomorrow morning..

Also case officer wants meeting brought forward, has offered to come to house on Friday. Not completely happy but it will make it easier as wont have to find someone to sit with DS.

Also SNAP rep can come on Friday and DH can pop up from work.

It all seems pointless but am being advised by rep that we should meet as we can show Tribunal we have meet face to face to discuss everything.

Your LEA are truly shite aren't they?

Do appeal this meaningless NIL asap.

starfish71 · 19/06/2012 13:39

Yes Atilla they really are :(

He's doing well thank you for asking xxx since him being signed off yesterday we have had no sign of sickness at all which is good as it means at least he is keeping his food down. Silence from my lea still. Had meeting with head today and agreed that when he goes back next week it will be part time only. Glad you are hopefully getting closer to getting your NIL - they really do enjoy messing parents around don't they?

starfish71 · 19/06/2012 17:01

Glad DS doing better today :) good too that he will just be part time. Hope next week will be better for you both.

Just had call, head of dept who signs off the statements/NIL is in a meeting so they can't drop it in to me tonight, should be tomorrow. Apparently woman in charge works 2 days a week! So the entire special educational needs dept can't function for the other 3 days.

How pathetic.

Seriously - this is the sort of information that you really should report to your Local Councillor. He/she is probably totally unaware of detail such as this. They really can put a rocket under under-performing council sections. Ours did when I complained that DS's DSA couldn't be approved while tghey advertised to fill a vacancy. Quick email to my councillor and the DSA was approved the same afternoon. He said he was grateful that I had contacted him as he would otherwise be ignorant of how poor the services in his council actually were.

starfish71 · 20/06/2012 10:35

Thanks wet, am taking this all in and planning to contact councillor.

Am still waiting...

Star, sorry they are still messing you around. We're in a similar position with the LEA not issuing final statement so we can appeal. We also have a 2-day a week statementing officer, as far as I am concerned that doesn't mean that things shouldn't get dealt with when she's not there - they still have to meet their responsibilities and their staffing issues are not my problem.

Someone on here (apologies whoever it was, my memory is rubbish) advised me to write a formal letter saying "by failing to issue the (NIL/Final Statement) you are denying us our legal right to appeal".

We have the letter prepared are intending to send it if we are still waiting after a fortnight. I think it's important to have a paper trail of how unreasonable the LEA has been. They have no reason not to issue it, it's already typed because they issued it to us as a draft. They only need to sign it and put it in the post - yet we've had a deathly silence from them since we sent the letter telling them to finalise so we can appeal. Angry

starfish71 · 20/06/2012 13:35

Thanks moosemama, it's horrible isn't it? Just being messed around all the time. So it's not just our council with part time statement officers! Madness when it is such an important job.

Been told now that my liaison officer is dropping it to me around 3 today.

Been to see the PRU that they want DS to go to this morning. To be honest it seemed quite good, nice staff, good attitudes, similar children to DS.

They are trying to get me to not appeal as you don't need a statement to go there. I,just feel sick.

bjkmummy · 20/06/2012 17:10

did they drop it off at 3pm as promised?

WetAugust · 20/06/2012 17:51

Starfish Search for threads about PRUs on the board. A PRU is not a suitable placement for a child with longterm SENs and the LA know this - AVOID SENDING HIM THERE

starfish71 · 20/06/2012 18:24

Yes have got it, posted on another thread about them telling me don't need a statement for a PRU.

I cried am shamed to say. Need lots of advice.

OP posts:
starfish71 · 20/06/2012 18:27

Oh wet, it does seem to be full of children with very similar issues to DS and is a very small PRU. I felt it had a nice 'feel' to it. Am I mad?

I am still going to appeal NIL.

OP posts:
WetAugust · 20/06/2012 18:29

He certainly wouldn't need a Statement to go there because a PRU is not a suitable placement for a child with longterm SNs. I'll stop posting here as I explained it all on your other thread
