Did you get any confirmation that the LA had received your request? I applied nearly 5 weeks ago including half-term not sure if that week counts?? and have heard nothing. I sent it by recorded signed for delivery and know it was received.

Thanks

Hi 2Siobhan, that was the only fast part of the statutory process for me! I sent request in on 11 Jan and had letter saying they were carrying out an SA on the 17th!

Give them a ring tomorrow, you should have heard from them by now.

Its after they have carried out the SA that they have gone elusive! :)

Good luck hope they can confirm they are carrying out the assessment tomorrow for you.

I received a letter from my LA really quickly soon after applying (about a week) confirming the application and including a few forms to fill in.

You should definitely have been contacted by now.

yes you should get an acknowledgment

insanityscratching · 17/06/2012 19:35

Same here got confirmation within a week.

Did you send the request recorded/signed for? LA's have a habit of losing/misplacing/ignoring stuff IME

we got our reply within days of sending it, it came as a pack with everything. my friend sent hers off the same week through her school, she never heard untill she phoned them a month later and found they had sent it to her old address from a year previous! however, they had started the process but she hadnt recieved the info. you definatley need to phone them and find out why you havent heard. its important to sort it out before the school holidays start. we started ours in feb and it went to special school panel last thur, so now waiting for the decision and final statement.

Thanks I am a bit worried now. I will phone tomorrow. I did send it recorded/signed for delivery and it was signed for. I really wish I had started this earlier as summer holidays are almost here.

Great news, at least you know that the ball is rolling. :)

first hurdle done...Smile

Really relieved to get over the first hurdle. But starting to get anxious/panicked about the next. Another professional has got involved since applying and wants to contribute and I have appointment with edpsy. Ds does not have a dx so worried about how to best articulate his needs.

It's a while since we did it for either of the boys, but pretty quickly, I got a letter back asking for me to submit various things and giving a timetable outlining how long the various stages were to take.

I got confirmation quickly, probably within a week, a leaflet for parent partnership and a leaflet clearly explaining the step by step process and timescales.
