Hi

Does anyone have any personal experiances of these schools? Am going to visit but wanted any personal feedback. It would be for my reception age ASD son who is NV.
Many thanks

they are very different schools - the teaching styles are vastly different.

I have experience of Eagle House ethos (not at Eagle House school though - we fought to keep dd1 out of there), and also experience of ABA schools too (again, not at rainbow, but it was one of the schools we would have been happy for dd1 to go to)

PM me if you want any more detail.

They are two hugely different schools.

I've seen EH but not rainbows, though would like to.

Thanks googlyeyes have pm you.

Thanks also starlightmajesty - I have not visited them as yet as this mad panic started yesterday when I found out that ds's placement for september had fallen through as the school named on his statement for september is closing down.

Just from the websites for these schools they look very different and it will no doubt boil down to what I think when I visit, but the ladies on here are so knowledgeable I thought I would try and get some first hand experience as well!

I didn't see an awful lot of teaching or learning in EH, but maybe I was the time I went. The children seemed happy enough though, but there seemed to be an awful lot of carting to one occupying activity to the next. Perhaps they prioritised life skills and transitions - who knows, but it didn't feel right for Ds.

Rainbows has a good reputation but Ds too HF for the peers (not the approach)

There are a few HF children at Rainbow at present, they are simply too anxious for ms though.

richmond44 · 13/06/2012 18:44

Thanks both.
Ds not hf i think although no apparent learning difficulties and good at puzzles. Also not at all anxious and very happy generally at home and at his present pre school. But has his own agenda and easily distracted!

Googleyes, that's interesting, though not sure Ds would ever win a placement there.

Would LOVE to see the place though.
