here
Hopefully(never works first time) you will see What our new Motability car will look like. It will be the same as this but with tinted windows. We had the demo today and I was very pleased. It has wheelchair access/ Ramp and a winch. I even test drove it(now I know how white van man feels lol)

what deposit did you have to pay, if you dont mind me asking? We have got the vw shuttle se, but if we would have got it off mobility it would have been about £8000 deposit, and then after 3years you lose the deposit so we didnt bother. Did you have to pay for the adaptions?

buzylizy · 23/02/2006 18:51

we havn't got to pay a deposit and the adaptions will be covered by the grant.

wow, i wish i had known that it would have saved us a fortune. I should have posted on here and asked. Can i ask how you went about getting it, its just that it may come in useful next time. we tang mobility and they told us the deposits etc but never said that there was any that didnt have deposits.

current prices

dizzy34 · 23/02/2006 22:56

Thanks for that, i will keep it in mind for next time. Its a bit late now cos we have got a loan for his new car, his mobility allowance covers the payments and his insurance so we should be ok.

Buzylizy-i hope you the new car makes life easier for you, i cant wait to get ours. Sorry for the thread highjack. Happy motering.

I couldn't make sense of the motability site, Really is crap!!
I think we didn't have to pay a deposit as Renault are doing nil deposit at the moment. as for the adaptions. We just applied for a grant. I think it help as dh is out of work at the moment and my dd is totally wheelchair bound(have to say she can crawl!)
I did ask the ot/phisio/sw and ss ot to do back up letters for me. we measured all dd's equipment and told them she had 2 wheelchairs. as she will be 11 when we get it and it has to last 5yrs I think they accepted the fact we need a large van(admit though I didn't expect to get something so good I am not normally this lucky) Must add we also said we needed an extra chair for a carer(no we haven't got a carer!)as normally you only get a seat for each member of your family. But we like to take someone with us to help. Hope that helps or is it all waffle(i am on my second whisky)

It all makes sense buzylizy. I didnt do much checking around cos the little one has been so ill. DS is totally wheelchair bound as well, he is quadriplegic, its hard work isnt it? We didnt find out about the grants until it was too late. We ordered the vw shuttle, with blackout windows (ds very light sensitive), alloys, bright blue paint, three front seats and three back with wheel chair ramp and elec winch, and it cost us £20,000. we are paying for it over 6yrs i think.

the good thing is it will be yours at the end of it. The thing I hate about motability is you never own the car and if it gets so much as a scratch you have to tell. them how old is you ds?

Hi, he is 3yrs in april. He is a little angel and not at all demanding, but his 'needs' are hard work. He isnt a child that crys much, and he loves being cuddled and kissed. Winter is horrible for us cos he gets loads of chest infections, they have recently started getting double chest infections and both lungs are becoming permanantly marked. The biggest prob at the moment is diahoreah and he has been in hosp for a small op.

How old is your little one? and do they have a diagnosis. I think i read in your other post that he can crawl. You must be so happy about that. I bet the car will make a huge difference to your life. For us it means that we dont have to keep folding down his big special needs pushchair and then trying to fit in the car.
