ds has always had puffy looking ankles and feet, he looked very bloated when he was born.

He has low muscle tone and global developmental delay. He is under a consultant, physio etc. We are waiting for the result of a cgh array, as geneticist thinks genetic cause is likely.

The other day at sn nursery a visiting physio showed a lot of concern over the swollen/fat look of his feet.I asked what she thought and she said it would be worth talking to his consultant. Unfortunately we don't hve an appointment until end of July, and although I have left him a message, he hasn't got back to us.

So I googled (I know, usually a bad idea!) and the closest thing I can see would be lymphedoema (sp?). Does anyone have any experience of this condition? Especially in children?

I posted ib children's health but had no replies.

I don't know about lymphodoema but it could be water retention? My mum gets very puffy feet and ankles from that.

The real name for water retention is edema. Just had to google to find it.

thankyou, ben10.

I probably shouldn't have googled,it is a dangerous thing to do!

I had terrible edema when I was pregnant, and after having ds one of my legs swelled up so badly I couldn't walk. Maybe the poor boy has inherited this charming trait from his mother!
