It's Fucking Form Finished day today! i.e. I have now completed DS's DLA renewal. Just need to print it out, photocopy it and post it.

That's 3 full days of my life I shall never get back Sad.

Bet we get rejected - my life has been too quiet for too long. I'm no longer battle-hardened Sad

Has there been some sort of jubilee going on?

Yay that the fucking form is finished! Hateful thing. I'm still 5 questions away. It is pushing me to places I don't want to be.

Will be thinking of you. Hope you get it through first time x

TheLightPassenger · 04/06/2012 08:51

Thank fuck it's done! Hope you don't have to battle this one, mind. And Ben, make sure you keep a copy of it just in case.

Changethatbulb · 04/06/2012 08:55

Woo hoo! Good job.

I've got a renewal for DS2 due in December. The thought fills me with absolute dread. You still have to fill in one million pages of heartbreaking shite.

Anyhow, fingers crossed that you get through.

(And there must be some Jubilee type thingy going on as I have bunting and flags out common) Smile

Changethatbulb · 04/06/2012 08:57

On a practical note I second the 'keep a copy' thing. Even if it's on the computer, back it up to a memory stick or something.

Ineedbunting · 04/06/2012 09:22

Resect to alls of you who brave the DLA form.

CAMHS told me to apply for Dd3 but having looked at the threads on here i just dont think i have the strength. Sad

I ignore the silly little boxes and write essays which I print out and enclose. Then I complete the form and photocopy it.

I then keep the Word file for next time. It's interesting to see how his difficulties have changed over a few years.

.....but I have woken up this morning and think I need a final read through before submission Sad

I will have my life back by midnight tonight - I've promised myself

WetAugust, do you enclose copies of medical reports?

Just wondering as my ds has a lot of appointments and reports (some of which contradict each other). So I was thinking should I type up a synopsis myself?

Yes - all medical reports stretching back from original dx plus any relevant appointment letters, invoices for support etc.

But it's up to you what you include - you can always supply more if you have to ask for a revision.

Look at it this way - a form is only a vehicle for capturing information in a format that suggests what they want to see. All information provided is valid and the decision-maker must look at it. I was told by the welfare rights workers that they have 7 minutes per application to arrive at their decision. What they are looking for is evidence that supports that decision.

Now need to extend the mortgage to afford the postage Grin

Thanks

I was told (friend of friend who works for them) that they only give the Dwp (minimum wage) admin staff 5-10 min per form to make an initial decision. So anything complicated (ie most children with SN's claims) would just get rejected on the first round. A 'second look' decision-maker gets time to actually read the claim, and an 'appeal' has time to consider the issues properly.

mariamariam · 04/06/2012 17:10

So send it back by return post if you don't get the right outcome Hmm

mariamariam · 04/06/2012 17:12

Aargh. Cross posted. Must be true if we're being told the same about how long they get!

mariamariam · 04/06/2012 17:14

Ineed, just do it. If nothing else the form becomes a good snapshot of your dc's issues every few years which comes in handy for pretty much everything (education, health, social services...)
