A question about iPad for ds

I've been told by a few people that ds would benefit from having an iPad. He's 9 years old, asd and dyslexic. I'm sure I've seen in here about apps and stuff that help.
I'm so untechy so I'm asking for your opinions if you have them for your dc, and if so how do they help.
Theyre a lot of money and I want to make sure it's going to be worthwhile for him.
Thanks in advance Smile

My son is Dyspraxic and has AS. I have loaded onto our iPad Dragon Dictation App which types your dictation, then you can edit it or import it into an Apple product called Pages (MS Word type stuff). He then makes the changes and then "airprints" it to our printer over the wireless broadband.

We love ours and it has helped ds5 with fine motor skills - he has dyspraxia. If you are worried about it getting broken take a look at the trident kraken or griffin military cases which are virtually indestructible.

We have i-balz which also make it practically unbreakable. They are great for fine motor skills which is what we are working on. iballz

VJay I have an i-pad and I do find it useful. Though my ASD DS becomes very grumpy and temperamental if he's allowed any screen time over 30 minutes.
OTOH its fab when we are travelling /somewhere that he has to wait etc etc
He is assessed with co-morbid Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

I have found this very useful so that I can look at apps before paying for them.
