Is there any NHS help for ASD after private dx?

After many years left in limbo by NHS we paid for private dx from 2 professionals who also work on NHS. My ds is 11yrs and school is the main problem so I am hoping to now get some support for him. I can't keep paying private fees though so can I get some NHS help for him in the future. I know there isn't much out there but he might need extra support outside school. He is HFA and I think he might benefit from cbt or counselling in the future. Has anyone else had experience of going from private dx to NHS support please?

I have.

Basically all support post dx is delivered via the educational system, unless your DS also has mental health issues such as anxiety, depression etc.

CBT is available and your first port of call would be via GP but again, CBT will not assist HFA as it's designed to return the patient back to 'normality' by asking tghem to draw on previous experiences and work things out for themselves - which HFAs would have difficulty with.

So the way forward is school. But first you have to identify what sort of help you help he may benefit from and then start asking school to deliver it
