I'm looking for some advice on motability? I got a letter yesterday saying my daughter will received the mobility element of DLA from her 3 Birthday in September. Does anyone know if I can go to a car dealership before then and order the car to come on or after her Birthday or do I have to wait until her Birthday before I can go to the dealership?

Thanks guys x

I'm not sure, as we don't have this, but have you tried ringing the car dealership and asking them the best approach for it? I'm sure they would be able to sort it out.

no go and order it that way you can get on her birthday !

If it was me I would be having a look around now at what car would suit you best. That in itself may take a while. You may find that a new model is coming out shortly that would be better - the dealerships will be able to let you know.

It can often take a couple of months for a car to be ready from date of ordering (especially if you want a specific colour & extras.
Unless you know exactly which car you want already, i would start looking now.
Would check with Motability helpline about when you are allowed to order as they will have to make the decision about whether they will accept an application in advance of your DDs 3rd birthday for a car to delivered on/shortly after her birthday.

Also the amount of cars available changes each quarter. When I ordered ours in March there were over 5k cars on the list, it's about 1500 this quarter I think. They also can't tell you what will be on Each quarter's list ahead of time. So it's all a bit of a gamble. That said, I am delighted with our car. It came very quickly, less than 8 weeks. VW have a long wait depending on if you want BlueMotion.

Thanks for all the advise. I didn't realise Motability have a helpline so I'll give them a call next week and see if they can advise me. Thanks again x
