And he is fine. It took about 2hours, he had two biopsies taken of his bowel and intestines but everything looks 'fine'. They think the chronic dihoreah weight loss are due to the amount of anti biotics he has had. His mickey button is working well. He could be out tomorrow. He is going to go onto high cal food now to build him up.off back there now to stay the night in bed with him. Thanks to everyone for your good wishes.

That's great dizzy. Have they offered you any suggestions re: his diorreah?

If it is due to antibiotics then a supplement like acidophillus might help. We use a banana one for dd if she has had ABs or if her digestive system seems a bit 'out' and it does seem to help.

Thanx everyone, Heartinthecountry, where do i get that supplement from. i asked today about using a probiotic and he said 'its worth a try'. The prob is that he has ab everyday during the winter for chest infections, phnemonia etc, so its whether we dont give him the ab and wait to see if he gets chest infection or what.

Hi dizzy - I get mine here

We give dd the banana one as that was recommended by BIBIC. The idea is that you don't give it continuously but for about 10 weeks (which is about 1 bottle IIRC) and that should sort things out. It needs to be mixed in something cold - I usually mix it with dd's fruit puree.

As you say, might be worth a try. I'm not an expert on these things but it does seem to help dd.

heartinthecountry · 21/02/2006 10:47

Oh - incase it is relevant, it is dairy and wheat free.
