Read on here of so many parents' and children's awful experiences with schools thought I'd share my joy today.
Six months ago dd found Friday's Big Writing traumatic. She can't cope with the smells from sweets, the music would distract and she'd feel awful pressure from the build up.
Today she has skipped in to school, her literacy teacher asked me to look at her planning and told me three teachers stopped (her literacy class is in the spine of the school) and clapped when she read it out loud yesterday.
She said they'd be more than happy with that in y6 (she's y4) and it really was wonderful writing beautifully scripted, using her extensive vocabulary and with perfect spelling and punctuation as always.
But they got there by listening to me, taking on board what I told them and making adjustments that allowed dd to thrive and now they are getting the rewards as dd shows them just how able she is and I have a very happy and confident dd too as her self esteem grows because the feedback she gets lets her know just how good she is
