I've been going through DDs SALT report again and knew that her S&L age ability was coming out at 6y 5m but what does the following actually mean:

Receptive Language:

Concepts & Directions - 4
Word Classes - 3
Semantic Relationships - 7

overall receptive score of 70 (mean is 100) which is more than 2 standard deviations away from the mean.

Expressive Language:

Formulated Sentences - 5
Recalling Sentences - 6
Sentance Assembly - 10

Overall expressive score of 73 (mean is 100)which is between 1 and 1.5 standard deviations away from the mean.

The Total Language standard score is 73 (mean is 100). This is a score that is 1.5-2 standard deviations away from the mean.

Note: There were visual clues to help and the SALT made a comment that he gave her time to think, look and respond

Hello and thank you for that. So it seems if we didn't take the age equivilant into consideration there would still be cause for concern.

Think i'll have to get someone to spell it out to me as i'm just not getting my head around it. Numbers i'm fin with but when there are huge descriptions my head goes into overdrive and crashes Hmm

Basically, being more than 2 standard deviations away from the mean puts her in the bottom 2% of the population.

Pretty picture of bell curve here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_deviation

Oh . . When you put it like that, it's as bad as I thought :( Poor DD :(

Thank you for rescuing me - again Blush
