I just wanted to share my pleasure at joining our local support group:)

I was scared of joining until we got a dx for DS but I was silly! DS is now going to playscheme in the half term for 3 days at a total cost of £24. They do a weekly coffee morning where they give out info and breakfast, support workers that will come into schools and hospital appointments, family trips to things like bowling and swimming, parties for every occasion and youth clubs.

It really feels like it will be great for us all as a family Grin. I don't feel like the only one anymore like it did a few weeks ago.........

Well done for joining, bet it will be fantastic being able to talk to other families in same/similar situation. Thats a brilliant cost for 3 days at playscheme. Enjoy!! Smile

That sounds really good Ben10. I signed my ds up for a SN sporting activity recently (we don't have a dx yet) and he really enjoys it there and says he can be 'himself'. It has also helped my dh who has been resistant to admit that ds may have an ASD. Now he has seen several children with dx's with traits that are very similar to ds he is beginning to understand things a bit better Smile

Sounds good Desparately. We joined a SN/Disabled children's sports group last year but this is really good as it is specific to the disability. My DH was also slow to accept the possibility of ASD until we watched something on the One Show where they described the ASD traits and he sat there with tears rolling down his face as he suddenly realised. Now we have a dx it is good for all of us as we can access the support that we didn't even realise that was out there.

Thanks Shazian and Ninja
