HI, I'm thinking of doing a gluten - caisen test for DS. I know it is a bit controversial but I've always suspected something is not quite right diet wise for him.

I've googled Sunderland test but it doesn't come up with much.

I've found this via a blog This

has anyone done it? Can you tell me where?

TIA

we did the test recently (was £60). It is now called Espa research (but the same people). contact details are HERE

Thanks very much, would never have found that! have called them but not got through yet.

Can I ask you if you found the results easy to interpret?

the report is pretty straight forward as to whether there is a problem with gluten and/or casein. ours recommended explicitly going GF.

they are really helpful and if you have any questions, they are happy to answer them.

I just emailed them, never called Wink

Yep we've just done it. I foudn the report to be a little confusing so I called them up and he spent AGES going through all of the information for me.

We will be doing a CF trial shortly and DH will be doing it too as we're wondering whether his muscousy issues could be dairy related as well. :0

This is the number that I called which is on the report and was answered straight away and he had loads of time for me :0191 516 6366

Hi, what's the procedure to get the test done, please advise?

Ben10NeverAgain · 22/05/2012 21:58

You email the details above. They send you a test kit. You collect some wee in the pot. You freeze it and send it in with a cheque. They then email the results a few days later

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 22/05/2012 22:03

Have a look at the link Ben10 posted about ESPA. Keep your DC eating normally. They'll send you a pot to collect first in the morning wee sample. You freeze it in the freezer, then post it to them. They analyse it for peptides and advise you if they see a casein spike or a gluten spike or both and whether it's significant enough to try a CF and/or GF diet. Only try the CF,in particular, diet with advice from a dietician so you don't miss out any vital nutrition.

Oops, crossed with Ben10! Smile

You were much clearer than my email/wee/freeze/boak/pay/email scenario Ellen Grin

I just missed out the Grin

Thanks so much everyone. Think the freezing stuff is a bit bizarre. surely it just defrosts in the post!?! Confused

I think that there is something in the tube that reacts with the frozen wee

bassingtonffrench · 23/05/2012 11:03

Lovely!

I think it may defrost a bit, but it's in a tightly lidded pot so freezing it keeps it 'fresh' enough for them to test it. Mmmm Hmm
