I don't know anything about ASD but this research sounds interesting.

Interesting. Both my boys had head lag for a long time. DS1 was standing while holding furniture before he could actually sit unsupported because he'd just topple over if he sat on the floor. (pre-bumbo days) On his feet, he could lean into the furniture and became quite mobile, quite early (though late to walk without holding on)

I'll make the link clickable for people

Thanks for that. My DS wasnt able to hold his head up at 6 week check, and although physio helped sort his neck control by 4-ish months, he's still very uncoordinated with low muscle tone at 3.2 yrs. The more I discover about ASD, the more blurred the lines seem between body and brain-based disabilities.

yes mys ds1 had a significant ehad lag but was also very prem & has mild cp

My DS2 also had severe head lag (didn't sit til one year either) but he also has hypotonia..

hmm interestng

my son had excellent head control from birth (midwives commented on him holding his head up in hospital) and he sat early too
but i suppose there are always exceptions!

it's certainly something that could do with more looking into. would be terrible to worry new parents with something like that unless they're certain there is a very strong link

Interesting. DS is being assessed for ASD and had very poor head control - still floppy at 6 months. Hmm. I kept mentioning it to HV etc and was told it was because he was 5 weeks prem but I've always had a nagging feeling about it.
