dd now owns a pair of piedro boots and they're great! i was a bit worried about them when i seen them in the catalogue as they didn't look very nice but they're really lovely boots. she got a purple pair, size 18 and they're really cute. just thought i'd share the news on how lovely these boots are (although a lot of you here probably already know!). dd doesn't mind wearing them although she finds the shoelaces fascinating (so we double knot them on her). hopefully she'll want to stand up more now.

the purple ones are lovely, dd1 had those one, she now wears splints, so we have to buy her shoes, its a nightmare getting them to fit.. DS had the navy blue ones when he was younger, i recently found them when i was clearing out my loft and have kept them.

I've seen a couple of girls with the purple ones, they're really nice YOu'd think they might make them with Velcro though, just for improving self-help skills?

i do so agree they should have a choice between velcro and laces. velcro wouldn't work for me as she would be undoing them. I like laces as she can't get her foot out.(sounds cruel)

sparkly,
if you are having problems getting shoes to fit over splints then tell the orthotist-they will provide one pair of footwear. This happened with dd and after trailing around for two days of the summer holidays last year looking for school shoes to fit over her splints i finally gave up, phoned the orthotist and told him i would not be spending any more time looking and it was now his problem......sorted as quick as a flash xx

yes, indeed my DS had the purple ones - he looked like a right Glam Rocker, as he has a big raise which looks like a platform sole on one of them!

THANKFULLY, as he now wants 'black shiny boots like Willy Wonka' he has balck ones again.

You can get them altered by the orthotics dept and have velcro fastenings - this is what we do now DS is at school and has to manage on his own.

Glad it has worked out, KreamKrackers.
