Hello,
You might remember me from previous posts regarding my daughter. Tribunal is in June and I had a private assessment done as I wasn't happy with what school were providing me. My DD is percentile 5 for word reading, spelling and pseudoword decoding. I have report for wisc iv and need to get back in touch with ed psych as I don't understand results. Education have produced a working document and LEA Psych as done her report with 20 recommendations. Just want to ask what are our chances might be at tribunal as I am feeling nervous and dreading it TBH. In the wiat 2 she is 3 years behind in 3 areas and 4 years in another area. Anybody know anything about Wisc 4 assessment?
Thanks

Are you appealing a refusal to make a statement?

5th percentile means that out of 100 children then 95 would do better.

Thanks wasuup, appealing for an assessment.

I found a good document last night that may help you - I will go look for it.

Just to say if you go on the LA SEN section of your local county council website and search for criteria for agreeing to assess for a statement of sen you may find more detail of how they make their decisions.

Have you checked the sen code of practice to see if you feel your dd meets the criteria there? Also worth remembering that although many LAs say they only offer statemtns to the worst 2.5% in otherwords those who test lower than the 3rd percentile, this is equivalent to a blanket policy and not allowed by the sen cop. All you need to prove for assessment is that your dc has severe and complex needs and is likely to need a statement to meet those needs.
