Just got DS annual review invite today (school calling an early review as they think hes wrongly placed) and i need to know if im right to be really annoyed or notAngry
Hes currently at an ASD resource (that i want him to stay at,just need to tweak afew things) but school want him to go to the ASD special school,i have already viewed this school and i can be sure my son wont be going there(really disliked everything from the staff to the building to the location).
Now back to todays dilema they have invited the special school headteacher to the annual review(she knows im not impressed with her school)and am i right in thinking this is just to put extra pressure on me.
But what i would like to know is are they allowed to invite people not relivent to my sons schooling and if so why havnt they invited all the headteachers from all the schools in the county.....Angry

The school can "want" him to go anywhere they like. They have to have real valid grounds for them not keeping your son there and reasons as to why they cannot meet his needs or alter things to meet them. If you disagree then that is it just say so and say why. Take a list with you of the reasons you do not want your son to go to that school and the reasons why you feel he benefits from being in the present one. Keep eyes down on your list and stick with it :)

Email the HT and ask WHY the SS Head has been invited just point blank say there is no reason for him/her to be there as you do not wish your son to go to that school so that Head is not part of your review.

Thanks coffeepot,I just wanted to be 100 percent sure that I could say I don't want that HT there...and I've got my list ready and waiting(the school know darn well I will go prepared).

I think they are totally out of line to invite ss headteacher. Agree you should write and state clearly that this head does not know your ds and will have nothing to share at this meeting. Be firm, bloody cheek!

Tbh, they can still have a 'professionals' meeting without you and can include this HT. it's possible it might have to be anonymised but it will still happen if they want.

In some ways it might be better to hear what this HT has to say in order to better prepare your case against the school,

You may also want to put into writing a polite request to the HT that you woukd like to keep the no. Of people attending to a minimum and since you aren't currently considering her school for your Ds you woukd prefer at this stage she didn't come.

I've excluded people (SS and a few times the EP) from meetings like this in the past by writing to them as Ds' key worker making it clear that they are Not welcome and they have found better things to do with their time than turn up to meet with an ungrateful parent.

STAR I'm not an ungrateful parent and now I'm sure I CAN ask she's not present at the annual review all the better.
