Hi all, dd2 due to start nursery/preschool in Sept. School rang me yesterday to discuss all about dd. They've asked me to go and see nursery teacher tomorrow. After some advice really about wot to ask for ??!

Dd has no dx as yet we are awaiting ados. I've told them she speaks ok but refuses to when she's anxious. She's either going to love nursery or hate it! She has bad seperation anxiety. School have said if she needs support once she's started they will apply for funding for it.

I'm not sure what else to say to them really as I've absolutley no idea how she will be in a nursery. She went for 3 months to one when she was a year old and she starved herself all day and refused to come out the book corner!

Any help greatly appreciated, school are keen to make nursery a happy place for her and I desperatley want it to go well.

I would ask them what support they will be giving her. Will she have a key worker?

I would also speak about what they plan to do about transition. Will DD be able to visit and get to know her surroundings. If she gets to visti before September they will be able to understand how your DD works, and what things are going to upset her.

I would explain to them your DD's main difficulties and see what strategies they have to deal with them.

How about asking them what experience they ahve of children with additional needs?
