hi, hope it is ok i post in this section.
I am a nanny for a child who is coming up 18 months. We have recently changed bags as my charge is now moving and was scratching at the old bag meaning it needed changing a few times a day.
The stoma nurse provided a few samples and we chose a bag which really suits my charges needs. However it adheres so well that its a bugger to get off, and it obviously hurts regardless of how careful we are.

We have tried apeel sachets, coloplast spray adhesive remover and the LBF wipes to make it easier - with no success.

Can anyone please recommend a product or share techniques that may help? I dont want my charge getting upset needlessly.

Hello Drink, I asked DH about this -he has had ileostomy for 20 years. I'm not sure if this will be any help though, because his stoma was done as a young adult, rather than in infancy like your charge. His experience is that whilst bags should adhere well, they definitely should not be painful or sore to remove. Could you perhaps speak to the stoma nurse again to see if a different bag, with different adhesive, might be easier for removing? Having a bag has not affected my DH's life in the least; many of his friends & work colleagues don't know about it all. All the best to your charge and to you.

Thanks for your replies.
I have arranged for the stoma nurse to visit the week after next, and also called charter healthcare to ask for any samples of products they think may help.
