Flying with a Mac Major

Going on holiday in the summer and have booked flights with BMIBaby. Ds is 4 with asd and learning difficulties and uses a mac Major when in crowded unfamiliar places. I know we can take it to the gate when we board but has anyone got any experience of getting it back on landing to use in the airport on arrival rather than waiting until baggage reclaim?

I'm waiting for a response from the airline but wondered if anyone had any experience.

ask the flight staff when you arrive at the gate and explain that you will need it before baggage reclaim at the other end. if its loaded on last then generally it can be got back up for you. we have had it put on the plane before now and not in the hold but that was on a longer flight with first class - they put it in the cupboard where they hang the coats.
