my son has hemiplegia-a form of cerberal palsy, he is on school action plus, with a review next week, as i dont feel 2hours is adequate.
lately he has been having more and more diffucuilties socially :( im wondering if it may be asd? i know im jumping the gun a bit but im so stressed about all of this

I know it's not much help, but standard response here is going to be "get a referral for him to see a paediatrician for further assessment." And it's the best course of action to find out what in particular is going on in that regard.

As far as the school - you need to determine what his needs are and discuss with the school how they are going to be met. Support will need to be based on his needs, so if he is having problems with the social things, then make sure they know about it and have some sort of support in place. Does he have an IEP? (wasn't sure if that's what the review was for)

At next week's review raise the possibility of applying for a Statement.

I say this because he's alraedy on SA+, is not showing marked improvement and all his difficulties don't seem to have been identified so therefore cannot be adequately supported.

I would say that he meets the criteria for considering whether to assess for a Statement. An assessment would identify all his difficulties and should then enable the right sort of support to be delivered.

Don't accept there's no money / you won't get a Statemnet/ |the LA doesn't issue Statements any more etc etc. These are all excuses that schools and LAs use to save money.

It would be useful to hear what the response is at the Review. They may even agree that a Statemnet should be considered.

If not, I strongly suggest you apply for an assessment yourslef as you are legally entitled to do so.

Best wishes
