I'm looking for some info for a friend who hasn't really spent a lot of time on forums. Her 7 year old daughter has a sleeping disorder - it's not narcalepsy or Sleeping Beauty syndrome - it's called "Excessive Daytime Sleep Disorder". Basically her daughter needs more sleep than the average child. By the time she gets hom from school she is completely exhausted - she is asleep by 4pm and goes through to 7am - she also needs daytime naps to keep her functioning. My friend is finding that this has now started to have an effect on her daughter's development - socially and academically. She would like to find a forum where there are parents with children in a similar position but has come up empty handed so far. I wondered whether anyone out there has a child with similar issues or knowledge of a suitable forum. Thanks so much.

I don't know of any forums sorry but Alder Hey have a sleep disorder clinic maybe if she contacted them they would point her in the right direction for support from others in the same boat. Have entirely the opposite problem here.

Thanks - she's under a specialist - will suggest that she ask them if they know of any support groups.
