Hi our son is being referred to an assessment nursery for 6 weeks to see if he is suffering from autism or not. I have said for a long time he shows a lot of autism traits, however our SALT says he may be displaying these due to frustrations from his severe language delay - he has just turned 3 and she thinks he has the language skills of a 12 month old, which came as a shock to us as we believe he more like 18 months - 2years.
I would not be surprised however if he does come under the spectrum.
He has always had terrible constipation and Im sure this has affected the way he has developed. He must have had a lot of toxins build up in his body I believe. I decided yesterday to exclude all dairy from his diet for 6 weeks to see if it makes a difference, although I have read about more extreme exclusion diets which I am reluctant to try but have not entirely dismissed. Has anyone out there tried one of these diets eg gluten/ soya/casein free? Also I have been reading a bit about hair strand tests for mercury and other toxins - has anyone actually tried this? Has it explained anything to you?
Thanks xx
