Ds ended up in hospital in 2010 where he had constant open scratches and sores and these became infected. Since then he has never really stopped scratching, but just not on such a grand scale. He has now began to scratch all over his body again.
He had therapy at CAMHS for a year and half and they concluded it was his way of dealing with stress and that he found school a threatening environment. They gave school advice.
After receiving a copy of ds's school file, i found a referral to social services "to help mum deal with HER anxieites". Now the social worker was asking SENCO if i would engage with a social worker or whether i would agree to a social worker meeting with school to discuss "how mum could be supported". SENCO told me about social worker and asked my permission for HER and social worker to meet. I told her i would be happy to join them, but i was told i wasnt invited, so i did not agree.
CAMHS have told school in writing and during a meeting, that SCHOOL is the cause of ds's anxieties, but this seems to be failing on deaf ears.
Now if i approach school about ds's scratching, all they say is that they 'will keep on eye on him'. They tell outside agencies that 'it doesnt happen in school' implying again that it is a home problem. They just dont get that it is irrelevant WHERE the scratching takes place, despite it being explained to them very well by CAMHS.
If i am honest, i am scared to approach school about this, as ive seen what has been written about me ie i am 'over anxious' and the cause of ds's anxieties and this is what they will report to outside agencies.
Should i contact the social worker myself?
