could you please give me your top recommendations for a book about HFA for a 7 year old?

I am thinking more and more that it's time to tell DS1 about his diagnosis, and I would like an age-appropriate book that he could read either with us or by himself that maybe explains why he feels the way he does or does the things he does sometimes...

Also any recommendations for me and DP!

If you've told your child who is around this age, how did you approach it?

fanks in advance Grin

Books for DS:

Can I Tell You About Asperger Syndrome?: A Guide for Friends and Family

A Special Book About Me: A Book for Children Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome

And books for you:
Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew

Asperger Syndrome and Anxiety

There are of course loads more, but I haven't actually read any others. So can't comment on them.....

I don't actually remember when or how I told my DS. We started seeing the paed for a dx when he was 8. Some time during the year it took to get a dx we told him - I think because he was asking why we had to see the doctor. But it was no big deal.

He hates having Aspergers. But it's not the label he hates - it's the condition! So telling him didn't change anything.

I bought All Cats have Aspergers Syndrome for DS who is 6.9.

We have been talking about the doctor maybe giving him a name for the things that he finds difficult. He actually thinks that the paed sent him the book!! He was pleased to find out that there was a name for it.
